Good news today out of Bloomington.
Indiana is in the final two for a class of 2008 Top 150 player! Williams had originally committed to play at Marquette, so it's a player that makes great sense for obvious reasons.

Carmel's Moore to walk-on at IU By Kristen Leigh Porter Posted: April 15, 2008
Daniel Moore is undecided no more.
The Carmel High School senior turned down a scholarship offer from Boston University and will walk on the basketball team at Indiana University.
About 7:30 p.m. Monday night, Moore told Boston coach Dennis Wolff he wasn’t ready to make a decision. After mulling his future, Moore called the cell phone of new IU coach Tom Crean at about 9 p.m. with the news that he would walk on. Advertisement
Moore, a life-long IU fan, estimates that a quarter of the clothes in his closet are cream and crimson. His earliest memories of the Hoosiers are the A.J. Guyton years.
This season, Moore averaged 13.5 points, 3.4 rebounds and 7.6 assists for the 22-3 Greyhounds, who lost in the regional final to eventual state champion Brownsburg 63-59. The 5-10 point guard was named first team Senior All-State as well as first team Academic All-State as chosen by the Indiana Basketball Coaches Association.
"The plan had always been to go to IU and the Boston thing came up within the last couple months," Moore said. "It was a real intriguing offer but when it came down to it, I always wanted to go to IU. I had dreamed of playing there since I was a little kid. I'm really thankful I don't have to accept a scholarship and can go to a place I really want to go to."

Moore sounds like the kind of kid you want in your program...
Hope he gets a great experience with Crean. A good step to cleaning up the program.

He's not your average walk on....that's for sure. He'll be getting some minutes at Indiana, I think moreso than Eric Suhr did.

Way to pick up Steve Holdren part II.

I don't know who Steve Holdren is (which probably means he plays at Illinois, not many people know much about losing teams) but Daniel Moore will be a decent player at Indiana.
He was the starting point guard for one of the top 5 teams in the state this past year and was All-State. He is a pass first point guard that has very good handles.

Word is leaking out this morning that Ohio Big Man Bobby Copobianco has verballed to Indiana. Capobianco is a 6'8 PF from Loveland, OH........he plays with the Indiana Elite AAU team that has produced a number of studs over the past few years. Rivals rates him as a *** prospect. Not a HUGE commitment, but a great signing if you're looking for depth and size. ***UPDATE*** blogs.heraldtimesonline.com/iusp/?p=1918He has made it official!!

ESPN National Recruiting Director Bob Gibbons likes the physicallity in Capobianco's game.
"He is a rugged rebounder and a skilled vesatile performer," Gibbon's said. "He can play either center or power forward, and will likely be rated in the national top 100 after his play for the Indiana Elite travel team this spring and summer. I like his attitude, competiveness and his strong, physical playing style. He is a prototypical Big Ten power forward."

IU will struggle for a couple years if this is what they're bringing in.

Sounds like another JC transfer is coming in: Devon Dumes a shooter who played a year at Eastern Michigan before transferring to a junior college. JC prospects are hit or miss as the Illini are finding out. blogs.heraldtimesonline.com/iusp/?p=1928

I guess I don't see how Capobianco is a bad pick up HIRG.
He is a very solid PF (IU hasn't had a true PF in years!)

Perhaps that was a bit harsh, he looks like a solid player, but nothing more than a role player. IU is going to have a lot of "role" players in the next few years, but no one who will be able to consistently step up and take on the scorers role. That was a lot of Illinois' problem this year. They had a lot of guys who were good at a particular aspect of the game, but none who possessed the ability to be a "go-to" guy. Thankfully Smith and Legion will be there next year, but even that may take some time integrating them into the system. Who will step into that role for IU?

Notre Dame recruiting a 6'8" 3-star PF a few years ago and he ended up doing alright. Maybe the Copa-Cabana kid will turn out with similar results.

Dumes turned down offers from Arkansas, Ohio State, Alabama, Colorado, and UTEP.
One other note.....he broke the Vincennes record for 3's made in a year...while shooting 39.9% behind the arc.
