You're allowed on the HU board?
Well, consider the "welcome to the boards" comment officially retracted.
Seriously, though... since you seem to know Davis, do you know what programs in the MCC he's considering? Is it just HU and BC?

(in the weight room, believe it or not he has not lifted other than a school class) That's a problem. If he's serious about going DI he needs to be serious about getting a DI body. Schools don't usually redshirt guards (big men usually redshirt to gain strength and get acclimated), so he needs to get in there and get serious. I've never met Randy, and from all accounts he's a great kid and a great talent, but not lifting concerns me.

Dragon do you know if he is actually considering Bethel and HUntington. I had heard this, but was unsure...

Grace has received a letter of intent from Derrick "Duke" Johnson of Jimtown High School. Duke is 6'11" and is the brother of Kyle Johnson (not the HU KJ, but Grace's KJ)

Haven't seen an HU presence at the games, but obviously Bethel hasn't been told no. No other MCC squads have been mentioned. And believe me, if you didnt know he hadnt lifted , you'd have never guessed it. No guards in the MCC would push him around, although as you guys know D1 is a totally differerent story. Also plays taller than 5'11" because of above average hops and big wingspan.

at plymouth a lot of the lifting is plyometrics and agility...Benge rarely ever lifted weights..he would do a lot of jumping drills, medicine ball, etc...i remember after the loss to Washington Randys frosh year..the next monday he was in the gym with Michael Edison doing all sorts of drills..

That makes much more sense. He will still have to hit the weights if he is indeed going DI.

Hey guys, I'm new to the board, but had some info on Davis. I was at the Plymouth-Bremen game on Saturday. Randy played pretty well in what was a pretty physical game. From what I saw he'd be a great pick-up for Bethel. I also know for a fact that if it isn't a D-I for Davis....it's Bethel. He's not considering HU or other conference schools. The Bethel connection of having Michael Edison around (while he was there) and BC alum Joel Grendle as assistant coach has def helped out. Coach Lightfoot was the only one that talked to him after Sat's game. No other conference school was there...nor recruits in the stands. I like to keep a close eye on the stands just to see if these D-I's are sold on him...and the only school there was Bethel....that doesn't mean it could change in the near future though...I just wanted to notify that if Bethel doesn't get Randy Davis, they don't have to worry about playing against him. Which, after watching him play, would be a good thing.

I know Coach Platt doesn't typically recruit like Coach Lightfoot. I know Randy Davis is a great recruit, but when I heard that we may be interested in him or vice versa, I was kind of surprised. After how Mock and Shively have played, I feel like we are set at the Point for the next four years. We need to use the money to get some big guys...
I still think he is crazy to go to Bethel, but I know part of that is Bias, but even without being a HU man, I would wonder why a kid with his ability would not play somewhere bigger, or a better school (the Davidson's, Butler's, etc.) To go somewhere to split time or come off the bench at a small school seems kind of an odd choice for a kid that sounds so talented.

Unless you feel that you can help them win an NAIA national championship.
