I read this today on HHR...
4) Triton, 14-8; Sectional 50 – Three seniors who have seen varied degrees of varsity time since their sophomore year return for one final shot for a 1A run. 6’7” forward, Jake Everett leads the Trojans. He’s a versatile forward, who can play inside and out. He’s really more of a college combo forward and is a steal for NAIA Bethel. If would exploit more teams inside with his length and athleticism, it could be the very thing the puts them over the top.
Troy McIntyre, 6’4” forward, usually swaps out with Everett on who leads the team in scoring and rebounding. He’s kind of a jack of all trades type player. Point guard AJ Harrison runs the team and provides outside shooting.

First Team RJ Mahurin, junior; rockville Russell Byrd, sophomore; blackhawk Dayton Merrell, senior; blackhawk Ben Welsh, senior; south newton Donnie Abrams, junior; north central Jake Everett, senior; triton

Jimtown has a fine program and Aaron Griffey will undoubtably be a solid addition.
I can't help but be intrigued by Duke Johnson. The kid is 6-10, and you can't coach a kid to be tall. With a teammate like Griffey coming in next year, might Johnson be someone BC would be interested in?

I tried to do some investigating into that today.......and it doesn't sound like "Duke" is in the cards. The coaches are impressed with Griffey's growth, work ethic, and sheer determination on the block. I'm going to chalk him up as a Wes Laidig type player that every team needs to have.

I know Aaron Griffy well, his family and my wife are great friends. Needless to say we were excited to hear he is going to play basketball at Bethel. He has really shot up in height in the last couple years. I havent seen him play since his Sophmore year but we plan on going to his game on December 11th at NorthWood. From what I have heard about him from the coach's as well as just talking to his brother, this will be a great fit for both Bethel and Aaron.

Official Bethel Release:
Men's Basketball Signs Jimtown Standout Aaron Griffey
Jimtown High School senior Aaron Griffey has signed a letter of intent to attend Bethel College and play basketball for the Pilots.
Griffey, a 6’5” forward, averaged 6.6 points and 4.5 rebounds in the 2006-07 season for the Jimmies and coach Randy DeShone as the team finished with an 18-4 record and were the Bremen Holiday Tourney Champs.
“We are excited to have Aaron as part of our program,” said Bethel head coach Mike Lightfoot. “ He has been plagued by injuries thus far in his career but we feel he has a lot of growth and improvement ahead of him. Jimtown is a very solid basketball program and Coach DeShone's players are always very disciplined and fundamentally sound. He comes from a winning program and that means a lot to us as we look at players we recruit.
Bethel College is 3-1 so far this fall after having won its seventh national championship in the past fifteen seasons this past March by claiming the NCCAA title.

the bench continues to become more crowded

And you think Randy Davis is going to want to get thrown on a crowded bench? Sitting behind Ryne, Lantz, and Victor? Especially with bigger programs looking at him?
My guess is he will choose a school where he plays right away or will wait to play for a team that will be playing at the Big Dance, or at least have a chance to.

I don't know about that, Rub. Lantz will be a senior, Ryne a junior, Laidig and Victor will be sophomores. He could come in as a freshmen and average 15 minutes a game off the bench while he learns a new system and a new level of competition. Then, when Lantz graduates, he could theoretically become a starter (if not a key contributor). Our four main guards are all averaging 17-23 minutes per game.

Also, I think Cowboy's "bench" remark was directed towards Aaron Griffey, who in all likelihood, is not a potential Indiana All-Star.

Well, good luck with him.
I wouldn't hold your breath. That's just me. He could start for a team that could be just as good, that's all I am saying. He is an instant impact guy from all accounts. If he settles for sitting on the bench, I would be surprised. Which makes me wonder if Huntington will go after him at all, since we have Shively, Smith, and Kellan that all seem to be decent points...not to mention if this Mock guy pans out to be more than a flash in the pan kind of guy...

I've heard a few local outlets (south bend) calling Randy Davis a Mr. Basketball Candidate?! Is this like the "Mr. Basketball Candidates" from Hoosier Basketbally Magazine where every teams leading scorer has an add taken out claiming he is in the running?

On Hickory Husker, they ask who has the best shot at winning Mr. Basketball and here are the results...
58% Garrett Butcher (Edgewood/Butler) 17% Tyler Zeller (Washington/North Carolina) 8% Walter Offutt (Warren Central/Ohio State) 5% Randy Davis (Plymouth/?) 5% Julius Mays (Marion/NC State) 3% Logan Jones (Madison/Valparaiso)
Is there a reason why they wouldn't include Angel Garcia?

Nobody seems to take Angel Garcia serious as an Indiana HS Player for a few reasons. 1) He moved in from out of country last year 2) He committed to Memphis 3) He is in the region (as sad as that seems) 4) He isn't linked to any heritage of Indiana Hoops (read the linked story below about top talent in the state, notice just about everybody BUT Garcia is linked to a former "name" of Indiana Hoops History. Also, there is no mention of Randy Davis. www.indystar.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20071120/SPORTS0203/711200414/1247/SPORTS
