I've heard good reports on Everett--anyone else heard anything?

Everett is a lot like Hubertz from IWU in that you take a risk on a very talented kid but is playing 1A ball. It's much more difficult for a 1A kid to adjust to college play then it is for a 4A kid. But, at 6'7" (hopefully he's still got an inch or two to grow!) and averaging almost 13 points as a junior on a talented Triton team (a top 10 team in 1A), I think it's a very good pick up.

Kids from Triton haven't seemed to do particularly well when they move into college ball. I covered Triton when I was a sports writer at the Warsaw paper and they had one season that they went something like 18-2 and almost knocked off mighty Warsaw in the sectionals (I'm almost positive this was the final year before class basketball). I can't remember any of those Triton kids really moving on to excel in college. Triton's usually about a 12-8 type program with a couple of 15-5 or 16-4 seasons scattered in there. A nice solid 1A program. That's not to say that this kid can't succeed because obviously with his height and the Top 40 accolades, he has potential to be a nice player.

Knavel.....
I believe that was the Matt Saville team you speak of.....and He and I had an intramural dynasty at Bethel winning something like five championships haha....

Jason, I don't disagree with you but I think we'd be thinking different if Todd Blackford would've went on to play college basketball. He wasn't a high major prospect but would've probably played somewhere. But, instead, he got drafted in the MLB in the 13th round right out of high school. Everett's probably the best player to come out of Triton in the 2000's.

Good news on Everett. Bethel has a history on Triton players going back to 6-6 Randy Glingle in the late 60's early 70's who is still one of the best rebounders in Bethel BB history.
Triton also has 6-4 McIntyre on the list, so they have some good players for a small school.
I don't know anything about 6-10 Duke Johnson of Jimtown. Is he a brother of the Johnson at Grace? Would BC be looking at him?
Also, on the underclass list I didn't see Tommy Kurth's name. I was a bit surprised that Randy Davis wasn't listed a little higher. I also didn't see 6-7 Marcus Macarelli of SB St. Joe on the list.

Yep, I definitely remember Matt Saville. I believe in that sectional game against Warsaw, Triton was down something like 26-2 midway through the second period and got back to within about three points late before Warsaw pulled it out.
And from what I hear, I agree with Loucks on Todd Blackford. I didn't see him play, but I heard he was a pretty good player from Triton as well. Triton pumps out some pretty nice high school players, but they really haven't had anybody who has been a solid contributor at the NAIA level or higher in quite a few years. We'll just have to see on Everett.

Triton is 1A but has a history of very competitive kids/players (Jack Carpenter, Mike McBride). They schedule less than 30% 1A opponents.

Aaron Griffey from Jimtown is the latest commitment to Bethel. I haven't been able to find much about him other than he scored 106 points last year as a junior for 18-4 Jimtown. Also, he was listed as 6'2 last season.....and now checks in at 6'5. I'm going to chalk him up as a "project" or player of "potential" until proven otherwise.

4 points a game!!! Alright ... Go Bethel That's more than Sheckler is producing right now.....Platt would kill for a guy that could put up those kinds' of numbers. By the way, Bethel doesn't really lose anybody for a few years so there isn't a NEED to recruit stars. And in case you've missed the past few years classes, Bethel is stacked for awhile.

My guess is that Griffey wanted to play at BC and we're letting him. I would bet we're not using a scholarship on him. All that said, good for him and welcome to the team.
