Jeff Meyer shouldn't tell him to "Go F*** yourself" in the handshake line then. Meyer is a scumbag foot soldier for Kelvin Sampson. Lots and lots of butt hurt out there now that Indiana is running things again in Big Ten country. No one I've read anywhere has said that Meyer used the f-bomb toward Crean. But even if he did, why is that wrong and what Crean did is okay? And Meyer was absolved of any major wrongdoing at iu. And, last I checked, John Beilein coached at Michigan, not Kelvin Sampson. And any school that was stupid enough to hire Sampson, after his record at Oklahoma, deserves everything they got. If anyone "ruined" iu basketball, it was the guy you brought in to run the program . . . into the ground! As for "running things in Big Ten country" - you've won one outright B1G championship in the last 20 years. With any luck at all, you might win another one in 2033. With teams like MSU, o$u, Wisconsin, Michigan, and even Purdue, you'd better win the B1G tourney and a least the next couple of B1G regular season titles before you get such delusions of grandeur!

Who cares if it is on national tv, or not. It's all the same isn't it? I didn't realize it makes it worse if it happens on tv. So If I murder someone and no one sees it...its better than if it was caught on national tv? hmm...don't think so. I loved what Crean did. It showed me he cares about the program, the players, the school, and the fan base. Maybe it wasn't the best thing to do...he admitted it and apologized...case closed. If Crean had ruined the Marquette program and then coached Indiana, I would wholeheartedly expect there to be bad blood between the two coaches and wouldn't fault the other coach at all.

And maybe if Morgan's tip in went in I would feel differently..who knows. But it didn't, IU is Big Ten champs...and it feels freaking great. Undefeated against the state to the north.
And if you think IU won't win another B1G Championship in 2033...well you are going to be disappointed in the next 20 years.

Glad he is the coach at Michigan....
“Jeff and I discussed it afterwards,” Beilein said. “I’m not going to comment on another coach or another university. I will say Michigan is always going to win with class and lose with class,” he said. “I am really proud of the way Jeff showed great poise in the aftermath of that loss.”

Max, you should be proud of your coaching staff. I've always thought Beilein was a good coach and a classy guy, and now I know his staff is as well. So he's on the right side of the basket, going for a right handed layup, but he has the ball on the left hip. Got it. Watch it again. Unfortunately, it isn't on youtube. He was actually going down the center of the lane. He was picking up his dribble by putting both his hands on the ball which happened to be by his left hip. This is when he was fouled. He still went up for the shot and went into the foul with his right arm. I'm not sure why I am arguing with someone that makes opinions on generalizations before even meeting others. Do I really need to point you back to where you were making the analogy of Crean being a jerk after the game to two friends arguing during a game and making up afterwards?

Did you hear what Coach Crean said in his opening statement to the media today? He apologized for what he had said yesterday to Jeff Meyer; it was a classy act! A year ago at a function where I was at Jeff Meyer saw me wearing a MSU shirt and went off on how they were going to whip our butts. I wondered why out of the blue (no pun intended) he went off on me for wearing an MSU shirt. Now Jeff is a classy guy and a grad of an Crossroads League school and I do not think he used the F word .
I think Crean allowed the emotions of the years past when he had to build IU back up to boil over in the excitement of seeing his players achieve some success. Let's not get to bent out of shape over his actions in the heat of battle. I almost punched Homer Drew out during a game when I was coaching on the other side and have always felt badly about losing it in the heat of battle!

My biggest question in all of this is... Doesn't Crean realize he probably wouldn't be the IU coach today if it wasn't for Kelvin Sampson?
This would be like Urban Meyer being mad at Luke Fickell or Bill O'Brien being mad at Joe Paterno or Jim Larranaga at Miami being mad at Frank Haith.

Just saw the video, and wow!
Crean looked to turn around and come back for the confrontation, and the little smirk for the camera was a little too convenient....
Coaching 101, let your players have the spotlight when you win

And of all the things Crean did, THIS is the one that makes you proud? Seriously? If I had said, 'Beliein accomplished a lot this year, but I was most proud when he went after that opposing assistant coach on national TV, and then made some smirky expression! Yes, sir - that's what makes me proud to be a supporter of Michigan!' If anyone took over a program that was "ruined" - the Fab Five, Steve Fisher, Brian Ellerbe, Tom Goss, Robert Traylor, etc., it was Beilein. And look what he's done in his time at Michigan. Now THAT's something to be proud of! Boy, you iu guys are really deluded. Murder, and what Crean did. Wow, I can't for the life of me figure out what you even mean by that. Doing it on national TV didn't make it worse - it meant that he got exposed for the hypocrite that he is, which he did not expect. And a telephone apology, in which he said it was a "professional misunderstanding"? That doesn't even make any sense - but then, from someone who is so irrationally full of anger, and who is quickly becoming the pariah of the B1G, I would not expect anything else.

There is a report out that Coach Crean may have been upset because Michigan is trying to get James Blackmon JR to decommit from IU and go to Michigan.
I would caution against calling Crean a hypocrite as he is a brother in Christ who is a member by his testimony to the church board at Sherwood Oaks Christian Church in Bloomington where the Hulls family are also members. He called Meyer and apologized to him and to the media. May I suggest that he who is without sin cast the first stone against him and call him a hypocrite!

Please note, I never called Coach Platt a hypocrite like a previous writer did in relation to Coach Crean. I found Coach Platt's behavior unprofessional but never called him a hypocrite.

Crean's behavior after the Michigan game was inexcusable, period. "Hypocrite" is someone who says s/he is one thing, but acts like something different. Crean's behavior was hypocritical plain and simple. I'm not saying he is not a believer - but I just hope someone is discipling him and telling him that his behavior was arrogant, egotistical, and childish. That has nothing to do with sour grapes or anything else. It's just fact. If Beilein had taunted one of iu's assistants, I can just imagine the outcry from the hoosiers. Needless to say, I will be very happy when the Hoosiers make their early exit from the NCAA tournament!
