It doesn't matter to me if he violated rules or not as he'll never play again. It is just a VERY interesting story. For his sake, I hope he gets to finish out classes at IU while staying on scholarship.
But you're right, I tried OH SO HARD! Darn...

I will predict now you will see him in a Marian football uniform next year. They have become the Robert Morris of NAIA football. Any kid from Indianapolis that doesn't make it one way or another in DI football will always have a place on the Marian team!

Good effort from IU yesterday in their 16-10 loss to Penn State.
Indiana's defense is now majority True FR and Redshirt FR...which bodes well for the future I suppose. Dusty Kiel made his first start at QB and wasn't bad...wasn't great...just had a decent game.
Gunner Kiel also reconfirmed his commitment to IU on Friday night which is the best news of the weekend.

That's a very good effort out of the Hoosiers yesterday. I didn't see the game and sometimes you can't judge by the numbers, but the fact that they were in the game and had a chance to win at the end says something about their young team. That said, Penn State's offense is far from a juggernaut. We'll see how the Illini fair in Bloomington next week.
Keeping Gunner Kiel's commitment will be the biggest chore Wilson has on his plate the rest of this season and into signing day. Kiel could be a program-changer if they can put the weapons around him to make him successful (ie an o-line that can keep him upright, WR's that can catch, and a RB that can keep defenses honest). That said I doubt he'll make any sort of switch with his commitment until after the season is over. His family wouldn't want to create any sort of ill will during the season when his brother is the current starting QB at IU. Wilson and his staff will really have to fend off competitors in January and those first few days in February when all the other college coaches are solely focusing on recruiting and I'm sure will be looking to sway the younger Kiel.

Gunner Kiel will be enrolling at IU in January.........or if he decides to switch to another program.
So we'll know pretty soon whether he's coming or going.

December could be the crazy month then after the Hoosiers season has ended and other teams are inviting him to come watch bowl practices.

Sounds like one of two things is happening with the IU football team... 1. The team is fracturing and losing players by the boatload. 2. Wilson is sifting the wheat from the chaff to find the guys he wants going forward. indiana.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=1275002

Agreed HIRG.
You hate seeing kids leave a program mid-season, but based on the comments by Wilson.....he is happy about it. Looks like he is one tough S.O.B that doesn't tolerate laziness.
He also seems to be REALLY be hitting the JUCO ranks heavily for OL at the moment. There will be two very big JUCO OL Prospects on campus this weekend....and I anticipate both will commit.

JUCO transfers can help get a team through a hard time. I know Illinois really benefited from having Justin Sanders (safety) and Antonio Steele (linebacker) come in Zook's first full recruiting class. They were key starters on the Rose Bowl team in 2007. Indiana needs a lot of help in several spots, but the leadership that older guys can bring can be just as crucial as their play on the field sometimes.
