I can't wait for Zook to go back to the SEC Actually I like it b/c he is making a usual Big 10 bottome feeder into a contender and the Big 10 needs the conference as a whole to step it up. I think with Rodriguez and Zook now in charge the Big 10 is up and up.

Well to take 3 of the last 5 games against a national power like Illinois must speak volumes for Indiana Football.
I'm just happy that Illinois experienced some success in football this year.....January-March is going to be a very disappointing few months.

Well to take 3 of the last 5 games against a national power like Illinois must speak volumes for Indiana Football. Say what you want, but Zook is bringing in the talent to keep the Illini contending for the foreseeable future which is all I can ask for. I'm just happy that Illinois experienced some success in football this year.....January-March is going to be a very disappointing few months. Here I can agree with you. When the Illini blew the Arizona game, I went straight to Gameday Spirit to pick up a Rose Bowl shirt to remind me about the football team. I also watched 4 high school games at Assembly Hall last Saturday with future Illini recruits and boy was it encouraging. Crandell Head (Luther's little bro) dropped 34 and he's just a sophomore! Bertrand looked good, Richardson was decent, Paul ran into a tough team but still had 19, and Richmond just didn't get the ball enough but still had 19 points, 13 boards, and 5 blocks. He's going to be special. I have to focus on the bright spots in the future because the current team is abysmal.

didn't you predict the same thing happening to Illinois against IU? This team has a good coach, they're bringing in good recruits, and they have a lot of good things happening for them. I think they will play USC closer than anyone thinks. Then again, nobody is giving them a chance, so it's kinda a win-win situation for them.

Here's another great article on the Illini in the Chicago Sun Times. It's mainly about Wilson and Benn, Zook's two 5-stars from last year's recruiting class and how they are glad they chose Illinois over Notre Dame. I'm not posting this to rub it in to Irish fans, but rather to use it as evidence that the Illini are getting some great press in the Chicago media lately. Chicago is a great fair-weather Illini base. If they're doing well in either football or basketball, the city goes nuts for the Illini, but when they're bad they could care less. I wish they were more consistent, but at least they're giving us props when we're doing well! www.suntimes.com/sports/colleges/710318,CST-SPT-illfb23.article

Not really. I mean it's a huge loss for the team, but I knew he wasn't coming back for a couple months now so I've grieved He's got an opportunity to go in the 1st round... you can't pass that up. Congrats to him and I'll cheer for him wherever he goes. I'm glad I was able to watch him this year. What a phenomenal player.

I just watched the tape from the Rose Bowl, and I was indeed on national television in one of the close up crowd shots after Mendenhall scored his TD. That was pretty cool.

The Illini picked up their 2nd and 3rd commits for the 2009 recruiting class this weekend at their Junior Day. Chicago Leo products Leon Hall and Lendell Buckner have decided to don the Orange and Blue! Hall is rated as the 45th best player in the '09 class by Rivals.com and looks to be a dominating left tackle. Buckner could be either a nose guard on defense or a inside lineman on offense. Both boys are absolutely monsterous (Hill: 6'6 330 lbs. Buckner: 6'3 325 lbs.) and will be fine additions to next year's class.
Also the Buckeyes have picked up considerably trying to woo the aforementioned Melvin Fellows to Columbus. Fellows will probably be a top 5 player in the state of Ohio in '09 and it is burning the Sweater Vest up that he is already verballed to lowly Illinois! ;D
