Anybody see what James Carville said about Illinois being in the Rose Bowl? haha
Allow me to paraphrase:
the people working for the BCS are so dumb....why would they actually put a team like Illinois on the field against USC? Nobody cares about that game, people want to see Georgia vs. USC, two GOOD teams.

The amount that I care what Carville thinks rivals my desire to sniff a dog's rear...
In other words... no thanks!

haha It wasn't the good kind of publicity that I'm sure Illinois is anticipating from the Rose Bowl.

Expecting good publicity? Not from the "experts." I don't think anyone on the Illini staff expected to be the favorite in this game or have sports pundits slobbering over the matchup. Maybe if we had beaten Iowa this would be a sexier matchup (darn that ineligible receiver penalty!), but I'm fine flying under the radar or even better having no one giving us a snowball's chance in... well you understand what I'm getting at. It's a win-win really. Win or keep it close and we shut everybody up. Lose big and it's what was supposed to happen.

His introduction should discredit him by itself. But opinions are like anuses... everyone's got one.

How did I know you were going to say something dumb like that? Well it just shows you didn't read the article. Here's a nice section for you:
"Q:Since the Mitchell Report came out (Thursday), that's been all the rage in the news. How easy or hard would it be easy for one of your guys to start using steroids or human growth hormone and you not be able to tell?
A: We'd be able to tell rather quick. We know where our guys are with their strength levels and what they're capable of doing.
Obviously with that particular type of supplementation, so to speak, the numbers are going to shoot through the roof with their body weight and their lean muscle mass and body fat and things such as that.
We have everything documented from all their sets and reps and weights, as well as the testing and evaluations we do with their body fats and weights.
A competitive athlete is going to do anything and everything they can to be the best.
We will provide supplements here, but we're just big believers in the basics: Protein and recovery drinks and vitamins.
And everything that we provide is turned into our compliance department here as well as our medical staff. We're not going to do anything to compromise their overall health."

Ohhhhhh HIRG, I have no interest in the weight coach at Illinois so I didn't read it. And for future reference, ending a post with a or a *VBG* means the post is a joke/kidding.

The Illini picked up a HUGE commitment today from Cleveland Glenville WR Cordale Scott. Scott is a 4* WR who was offered by Ohio State and went to the same high school as Ted Ginn and Troy Smith, in fact Ted Ginn Sr. is the coach at Glenville. This commitment goes beyond just picking up Scott, but it shows that the Illini have gained enough of a foothold in Ohio that they can go in and compete with tOSU for top talent in the state. Now don't misread me, Ohio State has and will always get the majority of in-state talent that they truly want. But now they are having to make earlier decisions on players that the Illini are offering very early and building good relationships with. By forcing tOSU to make earlier decisions, it heightens the chance that they will make mistakes (the same can be said for Illinois). tOSU just made an official offer to recent Illini commit Melvin Fellows that we have discussed previously. Needless to say, the gloves are off in this battle! Illinois is in on several top prospects in Ohio next year including Rivals top 100 junior Maurice Hall an OL from Glenville. This was a very strategic place to make good connections with, because it is a feeder system to many Big Ten schools, not only tOSU. Chris Chambers went to Glenville before excelling at Wisconsin and IU's Ray Fisher is also a Glenville product among several other current Buckeyes. Here's a link to Scott's profile... the Illini sure are loading up on quality WR's! www.illinois.rivals.com/viewprospect.asp?Sport=1&pr_key=57704

Scott and Kyle Rudolph (ND) are the only two players in Ohio's Top 10 that got offered a scholarship to OSU and didn't take it. You're right, HIRG, it's always a big deal when you get a player from within Ohio state. Congrats! (OSU offered Dan McCarthy (Rivals #14 in Ohio) and he chose ND as well... I was happy to see that!)

Thanks Loucks!
A few more things on Scott:
1. He was named the Cleveland Plain-Dealer Defensive Player of the Year, but will be a WR for the Illini and could return kicks.
2. Scott is the first Glenville product under Ginn Sr. to have an Ohio State offer, yet go elsewhere. That's saying something.
3. Scott's stats this year: 51 tackles, five interceptions (two for touchdowns) and a fumble recovery while also averaging 53 yards a kickoff return with three touchdowns. On offense, he had 31 receptions for 303 yards and four touchdowns.
