So does that mean with the other contenders all being seniors, and him not blowing the others away, we can pretty much count out Sawyer-Davis as POY?

I think it's a 3 horse race between Coverstone, Lightfoot, and McCollum. Swanson doesn't have the stats (or team success) and Sawyer-Davis isn't head-and-shoulders above the rest.

I really don't think McCollum has the team success to get above Coverstone or Lightfoot.

McCollum's stats are pretty good, though. Plus, we all know that the POY also takes in account for their career (not just their season). McCollum, Coverstone, and Lightfoot have been very good for the MCC over their four years.

Yes, his stats are very good. However, when the running is as close as it is this year, I think things like not being a senior is going knock Sawyer-Davis out of it and not being in the top half of the conference is going to knock McCollum out of it leaving Coverstone and Lightfoot.

McCollum's stats this year and for his career are too hard to ignore, even despite Goshen's relative lack of success this season.

I agree with Bowen, McCollum has the stats to put him in the running, and i think all the coaches in the conference will be very happy they don't have to game plan against him next year, in my opinion more so than anyone else in the league.

Really? The same player that opposing coaches have a combined 39-21 record against? More so than a Coverstone, Lightfoot or Sawyer-Davis (who very few coaches have a winning against)? When it comes down to it, coaches don't care how many points, rebounds, or steals an opponent has on them as long as it ends up in a W. As I'm sure most you know by looking at my posts, I love stats. I have some great experience in stats (I have worked with the most famous statistician in basketball) and am great with numbers, but I can only take them so far. Wins are what matters to coaches, and I challenge you to find a coach that says otherwise.

Wins are what matters to coaches, and I challenge you to find a coach that says otherwise. Mr. Slater was my 5th grade basketball coach. He was all about the "fun" of the game. He wouldn't make it in the MCC.

How can you ignore 27.5 ppg in conference games, and 28.3 ppg against other POY candidates (on the three best teams in the conference). When's the last time we've had someone average that much in conference? Sawyer-Davis was 23.9 in 08/09 McCollum was 21.8 in 07/08 Alex Kock was 23.7 in 06/07 Eric Walsh was 22.8 in 05/06 Micah Lancaster was 21.5 in 04/05 Micah Lancaster was 21.5 in 03/04 That's as far back as I can go. Nobody's close.
