Kevin Kyle had his team undefeated before he got injured...so, I guess he wins it hands down...Not sure I buy your reasoning for Lightfoot...since they lost two games in a row without Brown. how does that support Lightfoot? If Kevin Kyle was still playing and his team was competing in the upper level of the MCC, then he'd still be in the discussion. But he isn't and they arent. Tough break

But aren't we just proving how important he was to the team...I mean if losing 2 games after losing tyler proves that Ryno is POY...than Kyle should be a shoo-in for the loses HU has taken without him...
Just pointing out that was stupid logic...
carry on with your love fest for whoever wears your jersey.

Since Tyler went out, Bethel is 4-2 with a win against a top 10 team (IWU). Granted, they had a 2-point loss to another top-10 team (USF) and a loss to Taylor. I still think it's doing well. Tyler Brown isn't just a role player or a decent starter. Losing him was a huge loss to the Pilots and they're managing pretty well.

bowen, do coaches, or are they supposed to, only look at MCC stats? Obviously they should pay the most attention to how they played in conference, but should they also consider how they did out of conference as well?

yeah i'm sure overall stats are considered as well but since this is an mcc player of the year award, i think the mcc only stats have more weight. also, how that player played against a coach's team would have some weight as well when the coach votes.

Ryne played great last night and was incredibly efficient, especially in the face of a Diamond & 1 defensive scheme.
18 points (4-7 FG) (2-3 3pt) (8-10 FT)

Ryne is playing well--he'd get my unbiased vote for POY

This is a tough year to just pick one player. Based on who is winning the most accolades, Zach Coverstone will be the winner.

I'm not trying to imply anything here or start arguments, just stating facts to compare this year, but William Walker won more accolades during the season than Doug Sheckler did in 2007-08 and Scheckler still won the P.O.Y.

Walker wasn't a senior that year either
