Lettinga.
My vote goes to Cottingham because I think NOBODY on this board had Spring Arbor finishing 3rd in the conference. They avoided the late season collapse and are in line for a possible At Large bid for the NAIA National Tournament. Outstanding job by Cottingham and crew this season.

If Lightfoot can't win...........after taking the program from 1 conference win to back to back conference championships in 3 years, then he won't win an award for finishing second.
I think Cottingham is a good bet and I also wouldn't be upset to see Tonagel win it.

Is it safe to say all of the other coaches aren't really in the running?

who cares? Kessler won the MCC Coach of the Year last year and they finished 3rd in the conference. This was in response to the Lightfoot remark. Both lost significant pieces, but Tonagel won the MCC this year while Lightfoot was second...that's why I think Tonagel would win before Lightfoot. But I think the coaches choose Cottingham

I was talking with a close friend of mine today, and he brought up an interesting point. It is amazing that Ryne Lightfoot is even in consideration for this award. The fact that Ryne has scored +2,000 career points himself, and has played with 5 other players that have reached the 1,000 point mark in WW, Tyler Brown, Lettinga, W. Laidig, and Tony Benford, is an incredible accomplishment to me!

I would be happy to see Lightfoot win POY but understand it's not likely to happen.
From all accounts, McCollum and Coverstone are not only skilled players but are excellent representatives off the court. I can't feel bad for such fine young men to take the honor.

Benford has not scored 1,000 points for the Pilots however Caleb Laidig probably will before he is done so that I suppose adds another to the list.
Lightfoot and those players you've mentioned have had great careers with the Pilots. They have benefited from playing early in their careers to accumulate those statistics however take nothing away from the fact that you still have to put the ball in the basket and they have done that with great regularity.

I'm hoping that Peller and Coons can pass the 2000 point mark at Taylor. I also look forward to them being in this POY conversation in years to come. There were 3 very good players in the running for this award this year, It was definitely a fun year to watch.

BC4life forgot about Jon Zeser too. Ryne played with him for 2 years. Every single one of those players played at least 2 years with Ryne except for Tony.

Lightfoot seemed to improve a lot this year, he really put the team on his shoulders, and that's impressive. He also apparently worked real hard on his 3 point shot from last year, he was dead on this year, and I remember Bethel struggling with that some last year. He will be missed for sure by Bethel next year when he's gone.
