Victor ended up at Danville ACC. I know it was said here (about a year ago?), but I don't remember. Whatever happened to Aaron Griffey?

Jake was rightfully suspended for the first 6 games of this season and never recovered. As his parents we understood Bethel's need to move on and valued our time as a part of Bethel Basketball.
We wish Bethel & Bethel Basketball continued success.
I will not respond to nameless poster's comments and expectations regarding Jake's Basketball abilities. As for his future, it's not certain graduation from Bethel is possible, therefore he is also exploring other options/opportunities.
I hope this can bring this discussion to an end.

Was always high on Jake......was a champion in HS and a great character young man.
Takes guts for parents to come on here and post a home phone number......I'm going to delete that information just so it doesn't somehow end up in the hands of some internet scumbag.

Jake's a Trester Award winner. Even though it didn't work out athletically, you can't take away his solid attitude and what he did for the team before, during and after his suspention early last season. Never complained. Always a classy kid!

Basketball sites, commentators, sports talk shows, etc. critique players, calling out their names and if they (in their opinion) did not reach the 'expected' level of success, they are labeled as 'underachievers' or worse.
I look back at some of my posts and I sadly find that I did some of that same thing. These young men, at Bethel, and other MCC schools were already winners when they enrolled at their college of choice. I was not a good athlete and have done too much armchair coaching and analyzing. Jake Elliott and many other high school stars have given their best at the college level. For whatever the reason, sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't.
Personally, I am embarassed and ashamed for those 'critiques' I have made of any Bethel player. I regret it and wish the very best for all the young men who wear Bethel blue or any MCC jersey. I will do better in the future and keep any opinions that are critical to myself, these young men deserve it. I am sorry for my negative comments.

Bryan & Jill Everett (Jake's Parents) thank you for coming on here and being willing to post and to be honest at the same time. It was a good reminder that there is more to these kids than just basketball. I try and keep my posts on my school positive, just because I feel the need to be supportive as there are plenty of critical people out there that they don't need my critiques as well. But, I think that is something people should do for more than just their school, even if we are rivals. Thank you for the reminder that these are just college kids trying to get a degree and do their best on and off the court, not professional athletes.

My comments were less about Jake's college career and more about the speculation on the board. We have little idea what will occur over the years, but the hype and reality often are quite different.
Hope Jake finishes his degree somewhere.

I saw Jake a few weeks ago when I went to Bethel to see my granddaughter off to the Dominican Republic on a mission trip with several other Bethel students. Jake also went on that trip. I hope that the trip was of great benefit to him and to all of those who went. Going and seeing live in another culture can change us into a far better person than receiving all the accolades in an athletic endeavor. May the Lord bless Jake greatly and also Thank you mom and dad for being there for Jake when he was a part of the the team and for continuing to to be and encourager.

A lot of the time when an athlete "underachieves" its because of the situation or "fit", not the athlete. I was a transfer myself. Underachieved at a DIII, but excelled at the more competitive NAIA level, it was all about the environment.

Jake EVERETT. I wish him much success wherever he goes. Whoever Jake Elliott is, I hope he does well, too.
