Article on Devan. 6.4 steals per game, yikes.
--------------- GOSHEN, Ind. – After graduating the program’s all-time leading scorer in NAIA First Team All American Errick McCollum II, the Goshen College men’s basketball team is working hard to replace the scoring and leadership gap he left behind.
Head coach Gary Chupp is pleased to announce a major step in that process with the recent signing of Glen Oaks Community College transfer Devan Crain.
“I could not be more excited that Devan has decided to join our basketball family,” the third-year head coach explained. “He comes from an outstanding program at Glen Oaks and will fit in very nicely with our style of play. I look for Devan to be a stat filler, offensively he can score in a lot of different ways, but also is very unselfish and distributes the ball extremely well.”
In his sophomore season for the Vikings, Crain racked up impressive numbers of 15.9 points, 5.4 rebounds, 5.7 assists, and 6.4 steals a game. He was named to the All Michigan Community Athletic Association Team, was the Glen Oaks Thanksgiving Tournament MVP, helped the Vikings to the MCCAA regular season title (26-5), and set a new Glen Oaks single season steals record.
“As much as he will help us on the offensive end of the floor, he probably makes a bigger impact on the defense end,” Chupp continued. “He is a lock down on the ball defender, but is also a very smart defender away from the ball. Averaging six steals per game over an entire college basketball season is almost unheard of.”
Crain attended Glen Oaks after a stellar career at Flat Rock High School (Flat Rock, Mich.). While at Flat Rock, Crain set the program single game, single season, and career records for steals. Also an all conference running back for the Rams, Crain was named Second Team All State and a Top 25 Basketball Player by the Detroit Free Press.
“I’m very proud of Devan and feel like he made the right choice,” said Glen Oaks head coach Steve Profrock. “I feel like Goshen is a place where Devan will get to showcase his skills and play-making ability. He is one of the greatest defenders I have ever had, but he plays both ends of the floor, shot over 40% from three, got to the lane seemingly at will and overall just did whatever we needed him to do on a given night for us to get a win.”
All of Crain’s coaches have even better things to say about him off the court. “Devan is a special kid, he is probably the most popular kid we have every had on campus in my 12 years here. Everyone loves him,” Profrock continues, while assistant coach Kevin White added, “he is a great teammate and an even better person. He works hard on and off the court.”
The son of Josh and Michelle Crain, Devan will study psychology and business at Goshen. Crain joins the new-look Maple Leafs in the fall as the 2010-11 roster continues to take shape with several more signings expected over the next few weeks.
“The coaches at Goshen care about my future and will develop me into the player and the man that I want to be,” Crain stated. “The program has a family atmosphere that is very important to me and I am looking forward to getting on campus and helping them raise a championship banner like we did this year at Glen Oaks.”

I have heard since during the season that Goins would be transferring. I have been told that he thought he was a lot better than he actually was and thought he should be starting and playing a lot of minutes. In my opinion it won't be a big deal if he transfers! He made to many turnovers and just tried to do to much!

Jared Treadway has signed his NAIA Letter of Intent to play men’s basketball at Grace College. The Kokomo, Ind., native is a 6 foot 7 inch postman from Northwestern High School, achieving First Team All-Area and All-Conference awards. As a senior he averaged 18.8 ppg and 7.4 rpg while shooting 72.4 percent from the field. “I chose Grace College because it showed that it develops students into God-fearing men and women,” Jordan said. “I’m excited to become a Lancer and to develop into the best athlete I can be.” Jared has been involved with the National Honor Society and Fellowship of Christian Athletes while at Northwestern. He plans on majoring in Education while at Grace. “Treadway will add a lot of strength and depth to our team,” said Grace head coach Jim Kessler. “He’s very much a team player. He has tremendous upside and will be a great fit here at Grace.” Jared is the son of Keith and Dawn. kokomotribune.com/sports/x334293365/Treadway-finds-Grace-is-right-fit

Grace signed Morgan Michalski - Guard from Xenia HS
Here is all I know:
Grace’s men’s basketball team signed another component for their 2010-11 campaign in Xenia High School’s Morgan Michalski.
“The Lord showed me that Grace was a school that I could grow as a student, athlete and follower of Christ,” Morgan said. “I want to be the best player that I can be, and be an encourager to the team. I look forward to playing with them.”
Morgan is a three-year varsity award winner, a scholar athlete, and he helped his team earn the GWOC South Conference title in 2010.
Morgan is an excellent shooter,” said Xenia head coach Kent Anderson. “He utilizes screens extremely well. Most of all, he is a great competitor and teammate. He will be a tremendous asset for the Grace community.”
At Xenia, Morgan earned the Sportsmanship Award during his senior year. He was also the president of Student Council and a National Honor Society member.
He plans on studying International Business or History at Grace.
Morgan is the son of Morris and Kelly Michalski.

Neither Jake Everett or Robby Gingerich will be transferring next year.
Jake - He has elected not to play next year, partially because he wasn't being utilitzed as much as Bethel had originally promised. He will still be attending Bethel next year and hopefully we can add him to our struggling Wiekamp Wacko section.
Robby - He has, also, elected not to play next year. Instead, he will be a student manager for the basketball team. After struggling over the past couple of years with concussions, his scholarship and development wasn't favorable for Bethel.
Both individuals will be missed by myself, the wackos, team, and fans - best of luck to the both of them as they continue their futures as students at Bethel College.

We just have to look at Jake leaving the team from the coaching perspective. BC brought in 6'5 guys who can be better. Also, the main thing that I have noticed with this recruiting class, in particular, is the mental toughness of these guys!

Also noticed a lot of talk about KC Victor...whatever happened to him?

I think I am going to spend some spare minutes throughout the day to read that thread. Is it fair to now say the class of 2008 (HS) is officially a bust for BC?

Also noticed a lot of talk about KC Victor...whatever happened to him? KC ended up not being the BC fit spiritually and after his injury (broken foot 1st yr) was never the same either. He ended up transferring to a JUCO, but not sure which one or how he ended up doing there.
