The more I hear about Landon Booker, the more I like... While he might be a little undersized in the MCC (5'9" I believe?), he could perhaps develop into a nice player 1-2 years down the road, especially once more of BC's guards start to move out ahead of him. Remember, IWU's Tone Murrell didn't come in with alot of hype and gaudy high school stats, he simply played in a tough league with a skill set that had potential. I've heard alot of the same things about Booker.
On a side note, anyone care to post their thoughts and/or predicitions on the MCC Newcomer of the Year for 2009-2010?. Obviously we don't know if a possible D-1 transfer (ala Landon Adler) could find their way onto an MCC roster but based on the guys coming in who do you all think has the best shot. Usually its guys who put up the best numbers and is less team oriented like the POY typically is, but for starters I'll throw out the names of: Bowerman (BC), Jones (IWU), Joliff (HC), Benford (BC), and Coons (TU) as just some possible ones. I don't know as much about Marian, Goshen, and Grace's incoming class. Those programs might have more opportunities for younger players to step in right away and get this award, especially the Baby Trojans.

I would probably go with Benford as well. I just think he is a stats guy who will score, get his assists, and steals.
I don't think the TU boys will score enough simply because I think they will be more balanced with all the new talent but they could suprise me I suppose. George Jones IV was built for MCC basketball in my opinion, I think he could really turn some heads, as early as his freshman season.
Nice pics by the way Loucks, thanks for posting them!

Benford has three years of college experience, is the real deal, a hard worker and rarin' to play.

It'll probably be a two man race between Benford and Joliff.
Physical maturity gives them an advantage on Bowerman, Jones, Coons, Etc.

MARION, Ind. -- Zach Arington has recently become the fifth member of the Indiana Wesleyan University men's basketball 2009 recruiting class.
Arington, a 6-8 and 250 pound post player from Mariemont High School in Cincinnati, Ohio, was a three-year letter winner for the Mariemont Warriors on the hardwood and a three year member of the Academic All-Conference team.
Despite being limited to fewer than 10 games during his senior year due to a knee injury, Arington showed great promise his junior year when he averaged better than a double-double after being inserted into the starting line up during the last five games of the season. For his efforts during this season, Arington was given the Most Improved Player award.
Arington has a vast array of international experience, playing in basketball related missions trips to Brazil and China and helping conduct basketball clinics in Belize and Mexico. He recently returned from Haiti where he helped serve youth in a non-basketball trip.
This mission's focus has IWU head coach Greg Tonagel very excited. "We could not be more excited to have a young man of Zach's character and potential entering our program," said Tonagel. "Zach enters our program with a great understanding of the ‘I Am Third' principle that we try to instill in all of our players, which tells us to put God first, our teammates second, and ourselves third."
Arington was also a standout on the football field, where he was an all-conference performer in the Cincinnati Hills League at Offensive Tackle. His success on and off the athletic fields led him to earning the Archie Griffin Sportsmanship Award.

Thanks for the post bbowildcats...
Considering the timing of the release, the mention of all the off-court success, and his success as a Christian leader make this signing not all that exciting from a basketball perspective but very exciting for the team and its makeup. It sounds as if he is a direct mission fit of the school and could be a potential leader on and off the floor. Also, you can't teach 6'8" and perhaps coming off an injury made him less attractive to other teams. Welcome to the IWU program Zach Arington.

Do we know anything about Danny Goins other than what he plays and where he's from?

He apparently scored 10 points a game last year, that's from the Grace website. They don't really have any other info up.

This is an interesting signing for Grace and I'm going to guess that this kid has some potential to be a game changer, despite knowing nothing more than what is posted on the Grace website. William Woods HS has put out some exceptional talent over the years and it wouldn't surprise me to see this kid come in ready to go. I would guess he's as ready to make the transition from high school ball to college ball as just about anybody knowing the type of athletes William Woods puts out and the type of competition they play. I'm excited about this one.

Looking around the net, Goins also played football at Winton Woods so he likely has the body to come in and compete right away. He received the team's highest gpa award so he should be eligible and the team's sportsmanship award. He was listed at 5-foot-9 so he's not real tall.
