Update on some Goshen Recruiting 09-10 Class so far: PG - Casey Pratt, Portage HS, Michigan, 15ppg 5 assists SG - Octavio Parral, San Antonio, TX, 14ppg, 4 reb SG - Ross Green, Middletown, OH, 10 ppg SG - Tim Kidder, Garrett HS, IN, 19ppg, Hoosier Top 100, All-State, East-West All-Star Game C - Cody Henson, South Bend Riley, 6'9", Led Conference in Blocks 2 years, According to GoLeafs Article and a Google Search, he was named one of the Nations Top 200 Players by Reebook (?). I have no way of confirming what that actually is, and based on that Goshen didn't write his ppg or rpg in the article, I question its legitimacy. Regardless, height is height, and 7' wing spans don't come along often. Maybe some of you from the South Bend area can confirm or offer thoughts on how good he is. He hit the game winning shot against ECC in the Regionals his Junior year, I know that.
Look for one more JUCO Transfer and another PG. That's all I've got. They still need to find some more height somewhere, but it is a start.

Thanks for the update Goshen32........if there was a 6'9" kid at SB Riley that was a national top 200 guy then he wouldn't be coming to an MCC school.

Oh, I know Kyle...but I found it multiple places... you can imagine my suspicion...and wonderment of what Top 200 list this is, especially by Reebok.

Add one more to the list for Goshen. Kyle Davis, played at Portage North, in Michigan. Another point guard, Kyle averaged 18 ppg, and 7 assists.

Henson will be a project who could work and become a real gem--like you said, he has a great wingspan--I think the Reebok list he made was by Grady Reebok, the custodian at Riley.

This I believe is the last piece of the Goshen recruiting class.... Simon Szablicki from Australia by way of Logan Junior College in Illinois. He averaged 25.7ppg and 9rpg. At 6'3" he should be a nice addition and can hopefully take the load off of Errick some. Gabe/Kyle, you want to update the list on the front page?

I wonder how many times Cody gets asked if he's related to Muppets creator Jim Henson or quarterback/baseballer Drew Henson.

I wonder how many times Cody gets asked if he's related to Muppets creator Jim Henson or quarterback/baseballer Drew Henson. Probably about as much as you get asked if you're related to Magic Johnson.

Did Bethel hoops go on vacation? I have not seen very many posts at all lately and have missed the war of words between the Huntington folks and the Pilot fans. Question: there was an article about the poor condition of Bethel fiances in the South bend tribune I believe yesterday. Did anyone on the inside see it and know if it will have any effect on scholarships. I was surprised at how small the endowment was; it has to be one of the smallest in the conference.
Well, if Bethel hoops is on vacation.....have a great trip!!

I read the article, Oldtimer. A few things;
1. Bethel does have one of the smallest endowments in the conference. Grace has the smallest followed by Bethel and Marian.
2. I think the bad economy hit at the same time as some interesting real estate endeavors for the college. If you've been on campus recently, you'll notice that Bethel has bought a significant amount of land. Unfortunately, the college hasn't leveraged those expenses with adequate investing. Time heals that wound, though.
3. I can't imagine much affect on scholarships. When I was on campus a few weeks ago (and I believe the article stated this), someone told me that Bethel will be giving out a record amount of academic financial aid. But, don't quite me on this. GoPilots would know more.
4. Bethel will be fine as long as Cowboy and FormerBruin stay on staff. They are the backbone of our fine institution.
