None, but does is that the only deciding factor of a great high school basketball player. He could have been the most dominate player in high school in his time. He did what he wanted when he wanted and made kids look just that... KIDS!!!

He apparently wasn't the most dominate player against Muncie Central.
The list from maxpreps.com showcases the Legendary figures of Indiana High School Basketball. Names that will be tossed around 100 years from now. Names that were on everybodies mind during their playing days. And while Shawn Kemp was one of the best in his senior class in the country.....I'm not really sure where he finished in the voting for Mr. Basketball, but he didn't win.
Kemp was an exceptional high school player, but perhaps he was overlooked by a Central Indiana bias at the time? Who knows......he is without a doubt on the all-time players list from the state of Indiana...but not the Top 10 High School list of all time.

Kemp deserves to be on the list as well. Heck if Conley is on the list Shawn Kemp Glenn Robinson Alan Henderson Eric Montross all deserve to be on this list.

You yell out state champion like he won them single handedly. He did have Oden...AND FOUR other division one players on his team. For two of the 3 championships.
Montross won state Robinson won state AND Mr. Basketball
and they did it in the one class era.

And you don't think that Mike Conley was a big part of that teams success? Being Mr. Basketball runner-up...and playing for the most successful team in the states history aren't to be scoffed at.
You can't really use the "and they did it in the one class era" as an argument here....because it's class basketball, LN was playing the biggest and best throughout the entire state tournament. Not to mention against Eric Gordon, Josh McRoberts, George Hill, Courtney Lee, Etc. Many of the teams in LN conference had/have multiple D1 players as well.

He was a big part..but had much more help than is being stressed. Randy Davis won state and was Mr.Basketball runner up, does he go in the top 10 too?
My bottom line is Robinson won state, mr.basketball..was heralded as the number 1 senior in THE NATION by many sources in a loaded 91 class.
If Conley is on it, Robinson is on it.

I have no problem giving Glenn Robinson a spot on the list.
I'm just shocked with how much disrespect Mike Conley Jr. is getting from the Bethelhoops crowd.
Randy Davis vs. Mike Conley......reeeealllllllly?

No disrespect really. I was using Davis as an example per your State champ/Mr.Basketball runner up criteria.

There have been many times in the past that the best player in the state does not win Mr. Basketball. Never doubt the power of the "Cream and Crimson" vote!

I remember that Mike Flynn of Jeffersonville won Mr. Basketball one year, can't recall the year, probably early or mid 70's. Flynn was a 6-3 guard with decent skills, but nowhere near the talents of other former winners. There were several guys from northern Indiana who easily eclipsed his stats that year, wish I could remember the guys, one was likely from Warsaw, as they had a run of great talent.
I don't think Flynn ever played D1 bball that I can recall. I do think, at least some years ago, that there was a bias in favor of southern Indiana players.

So is Karl Malone and Charles Barkeley not a couple of the best NBA players of all time and never won a title... I also vote for Rick Fox and Luke Zeller (Mr. Basketball and State Title Winner)

And John Wooden, he was 3 time all state and a state champ... Not to mention a National Champion in college and All Big Ten.... Finished his career as a halfway decent coach
