Evidently you didn't see Conley play much. As a point guard in HS he definitely thought shot first, pass second. The old man got most all his points off rebounds. But Ok, I concede, you love Conley.

I only saw him play about 10 times in person....I lived 5 blocks from the High School.

As much as it pains me to say so, Alan Henderson might belong on that list. He graduated as the all-time leading scorer in Indiana High School history. That being said, Glen Robinson definitely belongs on that list. I was at the state championship game that year, and Robinson dunked on Henderson at least 5 times, and Henderson wouldn't even come in the lane on Robinson (kind of like the Jared Jeffries/Zach Randolph matchup....)

conley must be on the top 10 list..he is by far the best pg ever in indiana..to mention eric gordon is an insult to high school basketball knowledge..gordon is a self player....being from plymouth..eric gordon accomplished just as much as kyle benge..nothing..neither could win the big game

.....except that Kyle Benge has about as much talent in his body as Eric Gordon does in one of his feet. Not to mention the difference in competition......At one point Eric Gordon was playing in the same section as Josh McRoberts (Pacers), Courtney Lee (Magic), Mike Conley (Grizzlies), Greg Oden (Blazers), and George Hill (Spurs). And if you want to get greedy, you can also mention about 12-20 other D1 players from the Indianapolis area.

I would also like to throw out Eric Montross. If it wasn't for him, my flat top wouldn't have been as high and tight throughout my elementary school days!

Yinka Dare amassed an impressive 4 assists to 96 turnovers ratio.
May he rest in peace.

Am I to assume that Rub is comparing Greg Oden to Yinka Dare?

Actually,
Dare was drafted 14th.
Let's examine how the first 15 picks of that draft shaped up.....
1. Glenn Robinson (good) 2. Jason Kidd (great) 3. Grant Hill (good) 4. Donyell Marshall (good) 5. Juwan Howard (good) 6. Sharone Wright (car wreck) 7. Lamond Murray (good) 8. Brian Grant (good) 9. Eric Montross (decent) 10. Eddie Jones (good) 11. Carlos Rogers (bad) 12. Khalid Reeves (bad) 13. Jalen Rose (good) 14. Yinka Dare (bad) 15. Eric Piatkowski (bad)
I would say that overall, the talent scouts were right in this given year (as they are most). I know that Rub is a staunch supporter of averages, as opposed to "exceptions" of the rule. I believe that's a 74% success rate.

The best player I ever saw in High School.....besides Greg Oden......was Michael Menser from Batesville.
That being said, I've seen a number of household Indiana names play in High School.....
-Kojak Fuller -Mickey Hosier -Luke Recker -Zach Randolph -Sean May -Jared Jeffries -Eric Bush -Bonzi Wells -Brandon Miller -Etc
But nobody impressed me nearly as much as Michael Menser did in the Hall of Fame Classic my Sophomore Year. That kid single handedly defeated an Anderson team that many thought to be their best in 40+ years. He was lightening quick, lights out from downtown, great passer, and a fantastic leader.
This was the glory days of the REAL state tournament, and his Batesville teams were always in the top 10 and lost two years in a row to New Castle on a last second half court shot in the regionals.

Not only did he go to the worst high school in the nation, but he turned his back on every single fan in Crimson and Creme. Being able to watch Kevin Ault, I can say that he was the best pure shooter I have ever seen in person. He benifited from having 2 post players that knew how to screen to get him open. He was never the quickets player in the world and needed the big guys in order to catch and shoot.
