Then I would expect you to do a better job of digging up "facts" than what you're showing. A lot of people are book smart though......but you'll find out soon enough in the real world that GPA doesn't mean crap to most employers.

IWU won the all sports trophy again....Bethel did not....get over it.

I'll admit, IWU has a very nice Womens Underwater Basket Weaving Team.
Clearly those points are just as important as sports that people actually follow and care about.
As I said before....now IWU just has to figure out how to beat Bethel in Track, Basketball, Softball, and Soccer.

Obviously, Feller, you missed my point. But, what is new with you?
Just because you don't care about other sports, doesn't mean other people don't.
As I said before... Call me crazy, but I think IWU is/would be pretty satisfied with their all around sports this year, regardless of where bethel finished...

Absolutely..and they should be.
It's not easy to have a successful sports program across the board. What I can't understand is why IWU and Bethel are always so far in front of everybody else.

maybe they give out more scholarships? Just a guess, I'm not trying to be a jerk, I'm just asking an honest question. I know Taylor, Saint Franci, and Marian spend money on football, so that doesn't help either.

Every other school has just a few sports were they really excel. For Spring Arbor it's baseball, for Huntington it's men's cross country. IWU and Bethel have the blessing of being gifted in a variety of sports. For us there's only one or two that we aren't good at. For us it's baseball and for Bethel women's soccer. We can afford to not be good in that sport because the other one's will pick up the slack. The other schools have so much riding on their "good sports." Or maybe it's a G thing since Goshen and Grace are at the bottom of the standings.

Wow, sorry I missed this conversation today...
Fellar, apparently lots of people really care about Track and Softball?!?!?
I'll give you that Bethel got as close as they've probably ever been during IWU's recent run of dominance in the All-Sports Trophy standings but just because Bethel earned the head-to-head victories in men's soccer and basketball means very little. Your beloved Pilots lost the same amount of conference games as IWU in those sports and that's why they didn't win the titles out-right, because they didn't deserve to.
I like how you like to manipulate the information to benefit your side of the arguement as far as what sports people "care about".
Congrats to the IWU athletic department in their dominance this year once again, although I prefer the way they did it a few years back when they won 8-of-9 MCC championships or something like that. I'll take that any day.
Side note, good luck to the Lady Pilots softball team at the NAIA National Tournament as they are having a special season. I'll be cheering for them for sure!

Bethel continues that special season with an 11-1 win over IWU in the MCC tournament Wed. Sidenote: Bethel pitcher Brittney Hire was named MCC Player of the Year (softball) She joins Pilot athletes William Walker (basketball) and Jon Bonfiglio (men's golf) as MCC POY for the 2008-2009 athletic season. Congrats to those student-athletes. When it comes to the All-Sports Trophy I think being as close as Bethel was this year speaks words about BC's athletic coaching staff's and athletes on how they utilize the minimum space we have. It's no surprise to anyone that IWU has the best facilities top to bottom. Those facilities are great tools to: A: Bring in top recruits that can improve your program and keep them at the top. and B: Can give you the opportunity to practice and train in a state-of-the-art environment. Some of Bethel's athletic facilities provide a great venue, but compared to IWU and even Taylor, the facilities they are blessed with is a night-and-day difference. God has truly blessed them financially in that area. Our basketball players were drooling when they saw Taylor's indoor facility. They couldn't believe that their baseball, softball, track and women's basketball teams could all have practice at the same time. We're pretty limited without a track and just Goodman & Wiekamp. I would have loved to see Bethel win it all, but at the same time I have this sense of pride in knowing that Bethel gets the most out of our facilities by all the coaches working together to fit in practice times with the limited space we have. It takes much patience and understanding from both the coaching staffs as well as the athletes to divide the time appropriately. I don't want it to sound like I'm satisfied with second, but I am proud of the fact that we've learned to maximize what we do have....and to me, that's very valuable.

This is a great point. Bethel, by far, does the best we can to maximize the minimum amount of space we have. I think this also helps with the closeness of all the athletic teams and coaches and the support that they give each other. Great job to the 3 POY's and also to the Pilots!

I'm just bored with watching Bethel dominate IWU head to head.

Fellar... 8 straight.... If that isn't domination, I'm not sure what is.
But if you would prefer to talk about only the sports Bethel succeeds in... Oh wait, you've already done that, over and over, and oh yes, over.... I'm just saying.
I can admire the opinion and viewpoint of Robbie. Well said and I applaud the BC staff, or any staff for that matter that makes the most of what they have to work with.

I thought Bethel has only beaten IWU 5 straight times on the court?

and another advantage IWU has over other schools is that they can afford more and better paid assistant coaches. And I'm not bitter at all, that's an advantage any school would use. of course, if political trends continue--IWU (and probably BC, too, among others)will have to pay a competition tax to level the playing field and help those programs who have been unlucky in the lottery of life.

What proof do you have that IWU pays its assistant coaches more than Bethel?
I know what the average assistant at IWU makes, do you know what Bethel assistants make?
