I think HistoryProf should have run. I think the country is in a lot of trouble no matter who gets elected. I am contemplating a write in. Bottomline, they are all liars at this point and will say anything to get a vote.

I think the country is in a lot of trouble no matter who gets elected. I didn't realize things were going so well currently.

I am done supporting republicans because they hate gay people and they have kept Christians in their back pocket, while actually not being Christian in their goals. What is your stand on gays?

I will never vote for the lesser of several evils and will not vote for a candidate who advocates killing unborn children for convenience. Aside from abortion, all candidates are about the same; they are people who aspire to be in power and don't differ much on policy (unless we are talking third party).

I have a name that I would love to see run on the repulican ticket in 2012 and that would be Condoleezza Rice. I would support her for sure. agreed! also - McCain had my vote in the New Jersey primary months ago and will have it in the general election. We are active duty Military - and Mr. McCain is the only candidate that truly understands the military and sacrifice. I would cut my own legs off before voting for Hillary. As a woman, with a young daughter - I'm very concerned about the example she would set with her lack of character.

First of all Ace, your question, in and of itself is offensive.
My "stand" on "gays" is they are people and first and foremost deserve respect. It is unfortunate that they are not people who are gay, but "gays". Secondly, I don't know what stand you can have. I believe they deserve equal rights. If marriage is what that is, fine...it isn't like Heteros have exactly protected the institution of marriage. I honestly believe the Bible has been misconstrued and abused to hurt minority groups throughout the past two thousand years, well since, about 300 AD. Ethnic groups, women, divorcees, now gay people...I honestly can't see Jesus asking the question you just posed.

This current war is hardly one that requires military expertise...

Well, as long as you want to protect the financial interests of your friends in oil and defense, you are probably qualified...Soldiers who have been there have told me to my face we are only putting a band aid on the problem, keeping a civil war from happening...that is going to have to happen.

What do you think Jesus thinks of "people" who are gay? What is your take, as a Christian in reference to people who are gay and what their future holds?

I think of the adage "God loves the sinner, hates the sin". This is all coming down to our interpretation of scripture and our personal convictions.
In my understanding of the Bible, yes, homosexuality and abortion would be sin. But like all other sins, God is much more forgiving than we are and he does forgive. I think that is compatible with the theology at Bethel. I am not aware of the theological backgrounds of other MCC schools and can't comment on the obvious difference of opinion by other posters from mine, because they may be in line with their school's beliefs or they may simply have their own religious beliefs apart from their school.
I respect their opinions, though I may not agree.

Is it possible that we also went in to help people getting massacred by their own dictator to end? Or to help bring some kind of stability to that region as it affects the rest of the world? I have heard straight from the lips of a Christian missionary in Iraq that the gospel of Jesus can now be spread, whereas, before there was a lot more resistance. I like that we can spread Jesus to others (big fan of Jesus).
