We might as well call this the Wes award.......
Which player do you think will be the most improved and contribute far more than anybody expected this season? Last year I think that Wes surprised most onlookers in his development and contributions, so who plays that role this year for the Pilots?
My Wish: Joey Welch My Gut: Caleb Laidig

I hope so.
If Joey Welch can be a solid contributor this year, the Pilots have a good shot at raising banner #4.

I'm not sure what qualifies a player to be most improved, but here are couple of thoughts.
I think Caleb Laidig played well and consistently last season and I don't know that if he continues to be a key player (and I'm sure he will) this season as he was last, I don't think he would qualify as 'most improved'. To me most improved denotes a player improved significantly from one year to the next, and I just don't think Caleb fits that description.
Jake Everett shouldn't have any expectations as he is an incoming freshman and we have nothing to compare his collegiate success to.
I agree that Welch is a very good candidate for most improved. I can't think of another candidate actually.

Good post blue2blue.
Perhaps I was vague in my question. Wes "blew" up last year.......becoming the surprise of the year, in my opinion. I should rename this thread "Surprise Player of the Year"

There is no doubt that the three players for most improved this year would be C. Laidig, J. Welch, and J. Everett. I think Caleb will have a breakout year (he can play multiple positions both offensively and defensively) and will add to the depth that Bethel will need to compete on the national level. If you look at Bethel last year the only difference between them and the two teams in the finals was the minutes played in Branson. When you get to the third, fourth and fifth games you had better be deep enough to withstand the pounding. Welch is the wild card this year, if he develops, Bethel will have all the elements to compete for the title. This years conference will not be an easy task with most teams at the top loaded. I am already getting that feeling of hearing baskeballs bouncing, shoes squeaking and the sound of burning flesh (floor burns)! Can not wait for this great game of basketball to start!

Ugh, this is the time of year that I miss Indiana the most.
Basketball in NYC is terrible.....as far as being a fan goes.
The only show in town is the Knicks, which speaks for itself. I've started looking into buying season tickets for Columbia and breaking into the world of Ivy League hoops. Thoughts?

Wow...that would be pretty rough to break into Ivy League hoops. I really don't know the state of New York very well at all, but I'm assuming you aren't very close to Syracuse?

I'm as close to Syracuse as I am to Baltimore, MD.
It's not an option I guess is what I'm saying. If I wanted to be aggressive I could go for Fordham games, but it's about a 45 minute train ride each way. Columbia would take me roughly 20 minutes to get to...on a bad night.
