While there isn't an official press release yet, it appears that Indiana Wesleyan has named a new baseball coach in former Grace Colllege player Chad Newhard.
Newhard takes over the Wildcat baseball program for Mark DeMichael who has moved into a full-time role as IWU's Athletic Director.
Newhard appears to be coming to Indiana Wesleyan from IPFW where he spent two seasons as the top assistant and recruiting coordinator. This looks to be a very positive pickup for IWU as they continue to bring in young and talented coaches. Best of luck to Coach Newhard with his new position.

I just thought of this as well. I want to send out a special thank you to Grace College for giving Indiana Wesleyan so many quality coaches and staff members!
All kidding aside, it is funny to me to think of all the coaches or staff people that either attended or coached at one time at Grace College. Here they are.
Dr. John Bratcher (Women's Soccer Head Coach) (Attended) Candace Moats (Women's Volleyball Head Coach) (Coached) Sue Bowman (Softball Head Coach/Asst. AD) (Attended) Kyle Schmidt (Sports Info. Director) (Worked) Chad Newhard (Baseball Head Coach) (Attended)
Thanks Lancers for your generosity!

I mentioned that list to a couple of IWU grads today. It's good to see Grace people leading the IWU athletic department. It's good to see Grace developing the type of leaders to run IWU!

Yes, but it took a Taylor grad to lead them to a national championship ;D

tubballfan, Most of us at IWU forgave that particular coach you speak of long ago for his unfortunate college choice...

you shouldn't be forgiving, you should be thanking Patterson for mentoring him so well in all seriousness, there are quite a few similarities between the two in coaching styles, it's quite scary really.

I believe the assistant volleyball coach at IWU is also a Grace graduate. Her first name is Cindy and I only know her maiden name was Yountis.

She is no longer the assistant volleyball coach. She used to be as well as a softball assistant for a year or two also I believe. She did go to Grace though I believe.
She is now Cindy Shugart and still a supporter of IWU and the athletic programs.

IWU's got the bucks to hire all kinds of people--BC has had a few faculty/staff migrate that way

Mr. Moffit is now VP Moffit so I hear... He has moved up the chain pretty fast.
I can pretty much gurantee that in most cases IWU faculty/staff don't make more money than other MCC schools do. People go where the jobs are and it happens to be that IWU is growing and needs more people.

I'm sure that Moffits kids are going to be STUD athletes at Marion High School in the future.
When your father is a former NFL Tight End and Mom is a former Olympic athlete (track and field) the odds are in your favor!

Is this Newhard coach a brother to the Referee Thom Newhard? I also think he does baseball as well. This would eliminate Thom from doing these games wouldn't it? Oh wait, we are the MCC, we take anyone and it shows.

IWU pays better and can allow folks a lighter load--that's great, more power to them--hopefully BC will continue to grow in that direction
And Mike M. and a certain bethelhoopster coached the best BC powderpuff teams in history--one with Melinda Streigel (SP?), Beccah Lambert, and Stef Reed which was the best ever.
