MCC Awards need to be based on common opponents/schedules (Basically MCC games)... it's the only way to truly compare performance on a consistent basis. For example Bethel and Boocher played 10 games vs. Top 25 teams, going 5-5, including 2 losses to #3 William Carey (50-6). Huntington's top opponent was Bethel. Certainly the numbers are would favor anyone playing lesser teams.
The same can probably be said for every other sport. The Coach of the Year should go to the Coach of the winning team - take that choice out of the hands of the other Coaches, who very often play around with that vote (trust me - I know).
Just my thoughts... rip me if you will... I don't give a crap anyway. Everyone thinks that their school's farts smell so good - maybe they do, but I'm pretty sure there are plenty of plank eyes out their pointing a middle finger at the speck in BC's. Get over yourself or go start your own discussion board so everyone else can join in and rip you a new one. You would quickly see that your perfection is not so much a reality as you make it appear.
That being said, I too would need to remove the plank from my eye. Bethel is not perfect, we lose our cool and chase down officials, we are arrogant with our pregame rituals, we are rowdy and obnoxious fans, we write stories that hurt others feelings, we have student athletes that break our covenant, etc... Regardless, we have wonderful people, serving Christ and making an impact for his kingdom. Doing our best every day to give our student athletes as many opportunities to grow in their faith with the Lord - sound familiar? If you look in the mirror, maybe you'd say the same?

Now its the conference SIDs fault? Very laughable. It is his fault if he did not proof the story prior to posting it on his (the MCC) website. That's just dumb, kind of like your statement.

Have it your way, maybe the MCC SID should have done a better job with monitoring the content of the MCC site (even though I don't agree with that).
Whose fault is it for posting it on the Bethel site? You want to blame it on IT people at Bethel? Maybe someone in charge of the server?
This is all quite funny coming from a person who has brought up the NAIA Champions of Character numerous times about other issues but in the situation where someone at BC made a mistake and its gotta be someone else's fault. Stay hot gopilots.

First, this is not a big deal, certainly not Champions of Character level. Second, nothing wrong with writing a pro Bethel article for the BC website--should have been checked by MCC official. That's his job. Third, nothing in the story that is not true.
and this topic has become tiresome

cowboy,
You can say all you want about this topic becoming tiresome but you have shown exactly why you know nothing about writing a press release or journalism in general. I'll leave it alone from here because you obviously cannot be swayed but once again I'll say that no one is arguing the article's facts (aka truth) but it is the tone and sarcastic nature of what was said that got him in trouble.
And yes he did get in trouble as it had to be re-written for the MCC site and changed on the Bethel site. If there was nothing wrong with what was said why did it have to be changed?
I've said my peace and you can continue to wear your Bethel sunglasses. Have a great summer.

i have a journalism degree and know a great deal about writing a press release, which is never intended to be objective. Never said the article was okay, i was just trying to get folks to see that the article, not appropriate for the MCC site, was not inaccurate and that neither the coaches who made some questionable choices nor the MCC SID are without "blame." And I wouldn't mind a pair of good Bethel sunglasses

You think the MCC SID is the only one who posts stories on the conference website? That is laughable.
That article has no place for an official college athletic website. Pieces like that are left for personal blogs.

You think the MCC SID is the only one who posts stories on the conference website? That is laughable. yes. If not, that's really a dumb way of doing business. Yes Wesley, it was our IT departments fault. DA. How quickly you move from the story is "not a big deal" (from page 1 of this string) to your current postion. If you read my previous posts you will see that I never defended the story. I did say that before the conference SID copied and pasted the story from the BC website he should have proofed it. He didn't and here we are. Heck, if we are paying and SID to copy and paste where do I apply for the position? Cowboy- your degree is from a Texas institution. Y'All don't know nothin' about writin' down there in Dixie... BTW- BC 6, Morningside 0 bottom of 3 Boocher- 1 run, intentional walk in the top of the first (hmm, maybe the Morningside coach has been following this conversation)...

Bethel wins 10-0 and I'm always amused when folks from Indiana imply that Indiana and Indiana institutions are more intelligent than Texans

SMU has the Bush Presidential library. That pretty much sums it up.

certainly you can't be casting aspersions on Bush's intelligence--he looks more and more like a genius by comparison
