yeah, my guess is, combine that with spring training, combined with a coach being afraid to have a player injured, it's probably not likely.

I saw on Fox28 tonight that Notre Dame (and other major D1's) is recruiting Randy Davis. I think the chances of an MCC team landing him is slim. If they end up winning state, I think his recruiting will heat up even more.

I'm not convinced he can PLAY in the BigEast. I don't see him competing with the Dominic James, Eric Devendorf, Tory Jacksons even. The star for Plymouth teams are always GREAT high school players and they play so well as a team and have such great success but not very often do they have the D1 type talent. Yes, Benge could play D1...but could he be playing for a Notre Dame (top 25 team nowdays) I don't know...depends if he wants to play immediately or go in and maybe be an Errek Suhr...

Randy Davis will have a decision to make in the next year or so. He has an assistant at Plymouth- Michael Edison, who was thought by some to be a D-1 caliber player. For reasons I don't know to this day, he chose Bethel and had a great career. Maybe Edison can share with Davis how to look at the recruiting picture since he's been there.
More recently Ryne Lightfoot, Sawyer-Davis and Coverstone (if I'm not mistaken) were considered D-1 prospects and chose the small college route. There may be more MCC players than that who were D-1 quality and I don't know about them.
D-1 is not necessarily the right choice for every kid, even if they have the talent. Assuming you can get a quality education at the smaller school, I don't see why a guy wouldn't go small school if he knows he'll never play pro ball. The competition, as we've seen this year, is real tough.

Tyler Brown could've went D1. He had many Mid-Con schools looking at him. Rumor is that Northwestern made a late attempt at getting him as well.

We could go on for days talking about the DI offers that MCC players have had (and we have in the past). Obviously this Davis kid is talented, and he has to decide whether he wants to take his talents to the big-time in NCAA DI or whether he would prefer a smaller atmosphere where he could really shine. It's his decision and I hope he makes a good one whatever it may be.

I think one thing that players don't really consider sometimes is this...You may be actually getting a better education at a smaller school or a school that is not a top tier D1 basketball program. Another thing that is interesting, is students at smaller schools that are getting a "full ride" are actually getting more money than they would at a larger school. That being said, Randy seems to be a real genuine talent. If he doesn't choose HU, I wish him well outside of the MCC ...

Let's see...
We got Joel Grindle. You got Kyle Benge. We get Randy Davis.
It's our turn for the Plymouth recruits. You can have the next one after Randy.

Geoff Scheetz. But we still get the next one by my count, so that means Davis is ours if he goes MCC.
