Taylor took the regular season conference title today with a sweep of Bethel 5-1 and 14-3 (5). I am looking forward to the conference tourney.

IWU shocked number one seed taylor yesterday and number 2 seed spring arbor is already out of the tournament. IWU is playing huntington right now for a spot in the championship game. Taylor and Bethel play later in an elimination game. Crazy tournament so far.

That was IWU's first loss. They will play the winner of the loser's bracket for the chance to go to the MCC Championship.

it kinda appears that IWU is gonna drop Taylor again... down 7-1. Wow... Give IWU credit, they are playing GREAT ball right now. Taylor is not hitting well right now it appears, which I'm sure has to do with IWU pitching well. They have a good shot to reach nationals with an at large, but I don't like them taking chances.

It's been a crazy tourney. Congrats to IWU. I am really hoping Taylor gets an at large bid, but I'm not sure what their chances are. Anyone with more NAIA baseball knowledge out there?

I don't really know how that works, but there's a regional level next, right? That's where today's winner goes. Or, if the rain keeps on coming, tomorrow's winner...or Friday's, given tomorrow's forecast...

There is an old baseball saying some of you might know... Build it and they will come. IWU last I checked was the only school in the conference set up for hosting tournaments. Two fields. Plenty of parking. Etc, Etc. Etc. The home field advantage I'm sure has helped but the Wildcats have been playing great. Seems like I've heard this before somewhere about a team winning because they got hot at the right time, not that they were the best team. Anyone have any idea what I'm thinking of?

I don't think the home field advantage has much to do at all really. 1. They aren't the home team every game. 2. They don't get an automatic bid, they aren't favored with playing time, etc.
Yes, they do get the luxury of playing at a place they know and sleeping in their beds, but I don't think that means THAT much for here. The beauty of baseball and college and MCC sports in general is that anything can happen. It doesn't matter how you played a month ago, but how you're playing now.
