There are no more "regionals" in baseball. It is called the opening round of the national tournament and you could play at any of the 9 opening round sites instead playing the winner of the chicago region like they did in the past. There are 9 5-team tournaments and the winner of each site goes to the world series. As far as the home field advantage, yes there is some feeling of comfort with playing on the field that you have played and practiced on all year, however I dont think that is really what has taken place. IWU caught fire at the end of the season winning something like 11 of their last 12 during the regular season and that has continued into the tournament. Plus i dont think IWU has had much success in the tournament the last decade even with all the good pitchers they had drafted recently. This is their first wins in the tournament, without looking anything up, in the last 4-5 years.

They must have the results in by tomorrow morning or HU would be declared the winner. So they are going to play the 1 or 2 games this afternoon or late into the night whatever it takes to play the game(s) to decide the winner on the field.

The Muncie Star Press is reporting Taylor had a great pickup as Ian Nielsen is transferring from Ball State to Taylor for baseball. He is a two time second team MAC first baseball who hit 21 home runs in his two years there as well as making the All Academic first team. He is a Lilly scholar winner which may say a reason he wants to transfer to Taylor because of their great academic reputation. I guess the old adage...the rich only get richer applies here as they have really been good the last few years in baseball.
