Yes....as in Mike.
I'm not sure what the approximate numbers are, but Wall Street usually makes up for something like 25% of all income tax received by the City/State. With all of the jobs lost in the past few months the state is hurting to make up for that missing cash. It'll be interesting.

Where was the celebration when Clarence Thomas was nominated to the Supreme Court? Thomas wasn't the first black Supreme Court Justice. Thurgood Marshall was. He's celebrated for his achievement. But, many would argue that, while being an appointed Supreme Court Justice is a good thing and historic in its own right, it is not on the same level as being elected the POTUS. I agree that supreme court is not the same - my point was that accomplishment for African Americans is often judged based on ideology instead of accomplishment. Thomas's rise from poverty to the supreme court should have been celebrated, but instead, he was attacked. Incidentally, while concerned about the direction we will go in, I am in some ways relieved that the democrats won this one because I believe that McCain would have been similar to Obama in many respects (especially economically) - and the republicans would have gotten tagged with the coming increase in the size of the federal government. My hope is that the republicans will now do some serious soul-searching and return to their conservative roots - smaller government.

the government will never be able to fix the problems that our country has.

....too bad the churches are failing to care properly for the sick, poor, and elderly. . . . the government will never be able to fix the problems that our country has. This is the moment of truth for the Christian community. I hope our leadership will be more like prophets rather than mimic CEOs.

It doesn't look like Wall Street got the good news on Obama.
Biggest two day decline since 1987!
I'm sure the "trickle up/spread the wealth" doctrine just hasn't been taught to everyone that runs the economy yet.

My question is: I wonder if the republicans regret their choice of a candidate. Personally, I regretted it the moment the choice was made. For me, voting this year was kind of like picking laundry detergent - lots of brands on the shelf, but all from the same manufacturer. Now the moderate wing of the republican party is trying to smear Palin in an attempt to save face. The press are willing accomplices since she is represents the evil conservative wing.

I think it's an interesting time for the Republican Party. Since the Neo-Cons lost out this election, I'm hoping guys like Chuck Hagel, Sam Brownback, and Ron Paul will be more actively involved in the collective leadership. I have my doubts though.

Evan Bayh on H and C. (paraphrased) " We have a fresh start. Lets not look at what someone said in the past (Reffering to the new Chief of Staff). Lets work together" Interesting
