Breakdown of qualifying teams. Crossroads has 4 for sure with 5 if Grace pulls off the upset. Marian is on the bubble list but they have no shot of getting an at large with the amount of upsets thus far. The bubble teams that remain are rooting for Bethel, St. Thomas, Cal Maritime because all of those would be teams that get at large bids and knock off a bubble team. Branson.docx (216.49 KB) I leave it to Pilot to put together the bracket which he did an amazing job with last time. I think Bethel jumps Saint Francis and Huntington if they win in conference rating and crack top 16.

This one is as of this morning. Definitely some flip-flopping around, and IWU no longer has to play C of C. I will have the updated bracket after tonight's games sometime tomorrow. Shout out to my boy! USF vs. #16 Southeastern (FL) Friends vs. #12 Bethel #3 Cornerstone vs. Cincinnati Christian HU vs. #4 Cal Maritime #7 IWU vs. Concordia (OR) #10 Davenport vs. OK Wesleyan Bracketology 3-1.pdf (432.97 KB)

Friends (looking at their schedule) is 25-6, with a 23 pt. loss to C of O. They would be a very formidable first-round opponent. I have always been impressed with the Oregon teams at Branson, so IWU better be prepared (if these brackets hold true). HU appears to have a tough first round if they play Cal Maritime.

I would agree about friends schedule but they do have a whitchita state transfer who leads the country in scoring and watching on film is the real deal.

IWU also plays really well against Oregon teams. I believe they beat every Oregon team they have played in the Tourney... Oregon Tech (2) and Eastern Oregon

Even MORE up to date than the one I posted an hour ago. Shout out! Great work with the bracket. I understand the line of thinking that we should not place too much emphasis on a conference tournament over a regular season. However, if Bethel wins tonight they should be ranked #2 in the ranking without a doubt. They only finished one game out of second so there was not huge separation between them and USF/HU. USF lost to a below .500 Spring Arbor team and Huntington lost at home to Grace. All three teams are getting in (fourth with IWU) so there is no need to "protect" anyone.
The problem is that if you put Bethel 4th then they potentially will not move up at all-and possibly drop-because they have to be ranked behind USF and HU. Voters could certainly drop those two, which hurts Bethel. If Bethel wins tonight they should be a 11-13 seed not a 17-19 seed.

I agree - I have a hard time imagining that if Bethel wins the CL tournament (even though Grace at home should be not as tough a win as IWU on the road), they would be in essence the 20th seed out of the 32 teams in the tournament, especially given the upsets that have occurred. I'm also curious to see how CU is seeded - They were #5 after the loss to Aquinas, but have won out, including a WHAC tourney finals win vs. #9 Davenport. That, plus the fact that #1 Cardinal Stritch, #2 IU Southeast, and #4 IWU all lost in their conference tournament finals will, I think, move CU up to where they were before the Aquinas loss - #3. That being said, a potential second round match up with Bethel intrigues me to no end. It would be the first meeting between the two teams since Fall of 2001 when CU beat Bethel in the finals of Bethel's tournament (Gates Automotive Classic), and only their second meeting in the NAIA D2 national tournament. Even though it's been 15 years, I'm sure the NAIA would love to see that "rematch".

Bethel's color guy is driving me crazy watching the final. The number of backhanded comments directed toward the Grace team is embarrassing. Sample = "Logan is smiling after that score. He won't be smiling if he has to go to free throw line." Are you kidding me?

I've heard the Grace announcer in past games, he's just as bad the other way.

From the sound of it, even after tonight's BC win, ratings will still be IWU 1, USF 2, HU 3, BC 4., but don't hold me to that.
