I can only imagine how those discussions went. A Navy Seal though sounds hardcore, and I'd love to meet one someday because I have so much respect for them. I don't think I could argue with one though, I have too much respect for them, and the fact that they're one of the most hardcore military branches, I'd be worried about getting hurt if I upset him

I stayed out of this fray as long as I could. To those of you who think that all war is terrible, you should have been alive like me during WWII. If you felt then like you seem to feel now, you would be speaking either Japanese or German and living under a dictator and Evangelical Christianity would not be allowed.
Rub, you have insinuated that all killing is a sin. Do you feel the same way about killing unborn and totally innocent babies?
On to hating homosexuals; who on this board even by the great stretch of the imagination came even close to saying that. Do you think that this is a trait of all or most conservatives? Evidently your Bible does not contain the first two chapters of the book of Romans. As someone has said on this thread, "God hates the sin and all sin, but I praise Him that he loves the sinner.
Lastly, I will speak to the topic. I heard someone on the radio a couple of weeks ago say that with the tight race in the "democrat" party it would be great if they dumped both of their candidates and the republicans would gladly give them McCain and then go find a real conservative.

I believe abortion is wrong. You guys like to put words in my mouth or make me the whipping boy of your conservatism.
WW2 and this current war...are you really going to say these are the same?
Yes, most Christians hate homosexuals. Call it what you want. I have several gay friends that have been destroyed by christians. They won't even consider Jesus, because they view Christianity as a religion of hate...Just go listen to Christian students say how things are "gay" or that people are "fags" or "homos" as a really bad thing to say to someone.
Weren't Christians suppose to be agents of reconciliation? Where does that show up?
Quit telling me what "my bible" does not contain.
As for McCain...isn't it kind of sad that the Repubs (and apparently 13 people on here) are ready to vote for a person who wasn't even runner up to Bush...who now has less than a 30% approval rating.

Rub....... I think McCain is about as central a candidate as you'll find. And to be called a Feller should be an honor.

Rub, what choice will there be? 1. Obama; who is a socialist. If you don’t believe that he is, just look at all of the socialist ideas which he promotes. Most all democrats love to take from those who have and give it to those who don’t. Oh wait a minute, that’s a communist idea.
2. Clinton; who believes the same thing, but who has less scruples.
3. McCain; who for all practical purposes a democrat except for his stand on abortion and I’m not too sure how strong he believes in that. Oh how I wish that Condolisa would have put her name in the hat.
Let’s compare WWII to the war that is going on today. If we would have lost that war, they would have let most of us live except for the Jews and those who were sympathetic to them. Those that we are now at war with would wish all of us dead unless we converted to their faith. Did you read what one of them did to his own daughter for even looking at a British soldier? He beat her stabbed her until dead then spit on her and did this with the approval of his two sons. I am not, as you might suppose a warmonger; I would rather fight it there than here.

If you have friends who are gay that hate Christianity, that should be an opportunity for you to prove their beliefs of Christianity wrong.
The passages overthehill pointed out are good, because they show where the Bible does talk about homosexuality. However, I think Jesus was the best example for us to live by. He came to save the wicked, not the righteous. Jesus was seen on many occasions hanging out with "sinners." However, just because he hung out with them, doesn't mean he approved of their lifestyle. I don't think Jesus would have said "it's ok for you to continue in your (insert sin here) lifestyle" but instead would tell them to continue no longer in their sin. Christians have treated gay people wrongly, like they are some sort of criminal, and I couldn't agree more on the part about Christian students calling people gay. I know we tried to stop that on my wing my freshman year, but didn't stick too well, maybe I can try and get that started gain. However, I still think homosexuality is wrong, and that the Bible preaches it so. I feel it should be treated like adultery, when someone is caught, you don't condemn them, but you instead try to reconcile them back to repentance. Christians have a commandment to spread the truth, but not to hate.

So I guess we should be more scared of a terrorist group that hates America, then a political party that killed 6 million Jews? Plus, in WWII Germany was doing the invading and this time this time who's invading whom?
I'm not saying accept the views of Muslim extremists, but Iraq is not the terrorist group here.

you know, overthehill...that idea sounds remotely similar to something that the early church used to do...
and didn't Jesus say for the rich young ruler to sell all he had and give it to the poor.
WAIT!!! Was JESUS a SOCIALIST!!!
You would not have voted for Condaleeza either. A Black Woman??? Please this country is not going to vote for her.
Overthehill...that is about the best you can do to compare these wars, huh...Didn't it sound as weak typing it as it does reading it?

Rub, You don't understand the difference between being compassionate and having a goverment TAKE it from you. Oh, by the way my church pumps more than $1,000,000 into missions every year and we were urged to donate to the people of Myanmar yesterday.

9/11 was Al-Quada...thanks for proving my point.
There isn't a clear enemy like WW2, when we knew we were attacked by Japan and then joined the alliance to fight Germany. The world was under direct attack, this current war is actually making the world less safe.

We for all practical purposes are not fighting Iraq today. we are fighting insurgents and the radicals from all over the region who have come to Iraq to fight. Why am I trying to educate on this sight?
