I think Rick Fox could have been an all-stater at Warsaw. He only played as a junior and had a great year. For some reason, I still think it was political, the IHSAA would not allow him to play his senior year. He went on to UNC and the Lakers to prove how good he was.
Kent Benson was another standout at New Castle. All-state in hs but more known at IU. I still remember Kentucky throwing 3 6-10 guys at him, Rick Robey, Mike Phillips and another guy and they all either fouled out or got in foul trouble as he dominated them. His teammate at IU, Bobby Wilkerson, from Anderson was also outstanding. There are just too many great hs players to fairly point out just 10.

If Bill Patrick stepping on Warsaw toes is political, then you would be correct.

Bobby Wilkerson played at Anderson-Madison Heights.
According to my father, one year when dunking was still illegal....the Alexandria Tigers took the court.....lost the tip.....and Wilkerson just tomahawked on some poor guy from Alexandria's head.

Yeah, Wilkerson was a freak of nature. He was 6-7 but more mobile than any 5-10 or 6' guard. A great defender, scored some too, but proved a complete player didn't need to only score. After IU had won the national title easily over Michigan they interviewed Bobby Knight. Late in the game Wilkerson had hustled after a ball even with the game wrapped up, he always played all out. He crashed and was hurt, it appeared pretty badly at the time. They carted him to the locker room, and maybe to the hospital for precautionary reasons. The interviewer told Knight that they had just received word that Bobby was going to be fine. BK, never one to show a lot of emotion (I mean of the tearful kind that is) choked up and cried a bit and said, "...let me tell you something, we would have never gotten here if it wasn't for Bobby Wilkerson." Very high praise from a man who didn't give it easily.

Sure law of averages...
I am just saying, Conley has bust written all over him. I think he is a great kid, but I think he is a back-up at best in the NBA.

There are a lot of 20 year olds in the NBA with "Bust" written all over them....the good news is that HE'S ONLY 20 YEARS OLD!
It's his second year in the league.....we'll see I guess.

For the record,
Has anybody been watching what Greg Odens done this week? Welcome to the League Mr. Oden!

Sure there is adjustment...but at the end of the day, Oden has the body that is unbelievably rare. Conley is a dime a dozen these days...it takes a lot for a guard to stick out, and I don't think he will be doing it for the long haul.
Even Yao Ming took sometime to adjust, but i think he is doing ok for himself...Oden still is going to be a STUD.

To be the #6 pick in the NBA Draft.....as a 19 year old, would to me....be considered sticking out. Who knows if he will ever be an NBA All-Star, but I predict he will have an Andre Miller type of career. He has rare speed and ability to get to the hoop......but chooses to find the open man first and foremost.

Meanwhile, George Hill is outperforming him...

WAS out performing him. Manu is back.
George Hill has always been a dominant individual player.....if I recall, he averaged over 30 points a game his senior year at Broad Ripple.
