Any news yet on how the coaches rated the conference at the meeting this morning?

Really we all know that every team is quality. We just have too good of a conference. Look at who got picked last and realize that Marian is quality too. We are not like some conferences where there's a huge drop-off... the MCC is amazing!
And coaches preseason polls mean absolutely NOTHING! I'm surprised Goshen and Marian didn't get more votes. Howell and McCollum are two outstanding players!

Loucks, how'd you get the rankings so fast Inside sources. Looks like that miniature wireless microphone I lent you worked pretty well.

while this doesn't surprise me at all, I still think Taylor can finish top 5 ahead of SAU, and it also wouldn't surprise me at all to see USF finsih anywhere in the top 3, I just don't know where to put them.

That is pretty interesting - it's really a group of two at the top, HU by itself, then a group of 4, then Goshen a ways back, then Marian at the bottom. If they use a 9-8-7 and so on point format, it looks like Bethel got 7 #1 votes and 2 #2 votes, and probably IWU got those along with 6 #2 votes and one vote for #3? Just guessing. That also means everybody but one coach put Marian last, and the other coach put them #8. Ouch.
I do think aside from Bethel and IWU, we are all waiting to see how our teams will turn out. In two months we'll start finding out!

I don't want to be a Debby Downer here but I think the MCC as a whole will be down nationally this year. While I agree with Clint that there isn't a HUGE dropoff like there is in some conferences, I think the overall core of teams in the MCC in 2008-2009 doesn't have much thump from a national perspective compared to the past few years.
Alot of that is a tribute to how strong the teams of 2006-2008 have been. Outside of Bethel I don't see any National Championship contenders in the mix of the MCC at this point and I even believe they are no sure lock. I would say IWU is the only other team on paper that would have the tools to make a deep run in Branson.
Take this all with a grain of salt because none of us have seen what the incoming classes can do and nobody can account for injuries, etc not to mention that I have no idea what the strengths of the rest of the nation's top conferences will be. However, it is my opinion that the overall level of the top teams in the MCC are down this year.
I'm also suprised at how close IWU was voted to Bethel. Interesting.

I tend to agree with you somewhat Wesley. However, I am not throwing HU under any bus because I have seen guys step up year after year. Won't be suprised to see huge leaps for HU this year.

BC, IWU, and maybe HU will get national consideration--I'm interested to see how high BC is ranked.

Benge, Smith, Kyle, Shively, and Jolliff is a very talented starting 5 with Stoffel, Zawad, Mock, Naf, and Kennedy on the bench. Granted we need a lot more from people. However, this year they can't wait for Sheck to take over a game.
I could see us taking a game each from Bethel and IWU.

I've gone on record as stating that I don't see any lack of talent from Huntington.
My issue is with their consistency, and clearly none of the players Rub listed have the abilities/size/strength that Doug Sheckler had. It will have to be a team effort for Huntington more than it's been in recent memory.
