well, considering the team is going to be bare after this year, any news is good news right now, although I know nothing of this guy. I have some ideas of what's going on, but again, it's all based on speculation and rumor, and I'm waiting to talk about things until I hear more about them.

Is their any chance, do you think, that Jake Pickett might transfer to Columbia College in Missouri, in his hometown, where he could play for Bob Burchard, Bret's dad?
Also, Reynolds was 6'7" or 6'8", right? He's the guy that nailed a lot of threes against us. Patterson could have him set up camp offensively at the top of the key, knowing that Reynolds could jump 'n' swish over whatever 6'1"- 6'3" guard the defense had guarding him.

and I think of Jake Pickett as one of the guys that was key in making Patterson's system flourish last year. He wasn't a scorer per se, but he made key shots when he had to and was a great screener, passer, defender and teammate.
Those losses will hurt!
But I think that Coach Patterson is such a good coach that he'll find guys to fill in, slow the clock down, nail 3's, and beat a bunch of teams.
TUBballfan, take heart, buddy... T.U. will still be amazing next year. Isn't Cox back? Is Daniel back? Bream can rule the post. Coach Patterson is such a good coach that he could beat a team with 5 5'11" guys... he'd have 'em slow it way down and drain 3's.

couple of things. 1. It's Kyle Pickett, and while he wasn't necessarily a scoring threat, he was a big body that was still helpful. 2. Losing Reynolds is absolutely huge. I felt he was 1st team all conference caliber last year, as did others. Bethel fans can attest to the fact that he is a great player as he was a big part in Taylor taking 2 of 3 games from Bethel last year. 3. I'm worried about Taylor this year. One of the big reasons I've been wondering about their recruits is because I've been wondering who's gonna replace certain people. Before I heard about Reynolds, I would have had Taylor top 4, now, I have them about 7th or 8th, not doing much more than playing spoiler to teams. Granted, someone could step up big time, but I honestly don't know who's gonna do it. I want to have hope, I really do, but it's tough right now. Bethel fans, imagine losing Walker, and that's probably where the loss lies for me, not because Reynolds was as good as Walker, but because he means that much to the team. I really hope someone steps up, and they very well could, but it's also possible for this to be a long season.

I think TU will be competitive and will beat some "better teams" because of their style--their style annoys me as it does the teams it plays, that's the point.

TUBBallfan, sorry for calling him Jake. I had his name mixed up with the guy who used to play for and be an assistant coach at Embry-Riddle, and now coaches at Limestone.
I think somewhere in the back of my brain I knew it was Kyle, but I'd recently looked at Embry-Riddle's media guide that Coach Moore got me at nationals, and so that's why I was confused.
Kyle was perfect for the TU system. I remember watching him play and will miss seeing him in the M.C.C.
My best wishes to both Chad and Kyle in what God has for them next!

That's a shocking loss...
Reynolds in my opinion wasn't great but he was very solid. At times he could be taken out of games though when the right defender was matched up against him. I never understood why he didn't play more with his back to the basket. I'm not sure if that was a Patterson move or Reynolds simply never wanted to do it. With his size, he could have given the Trojans a more difinitive inside threat which would open up Cox and Company for more outside shooting.
Now on to the present. This is just my opinion, but I think Taylor moves down to the 7-8 range in the conference. Patterson's style will still creep up on a few teams in conference but with limited offensive difference-makers in that lineup, I simply don't see how they come out on top in to many contests. Cox is a solid secondary scorer and the way Reynolds stepped up last year, they were maybe one player away from being a Conference title contender. I think his departure completely takes that possibility out of the picture. I agree with tubballfan, Reynolds was to Taylor what Walker is to Bethel, Sheckler was to HU, and what I believe Gaff will be to Grace this year. He was the "build-around" player TU desperately needed.
Hopefully Reynolds and Pickett land on their feet and finish their college education.
