Wasn't the old coach just hired a couple of years ago? I just hope Taylor can get something going. Its an embarassment for the MCC to have Taylor lose to Anderson on an annual basis.

Wow, didn't know anything about this. Maybe tubballfan can enlighten us.
While Bell didn't exactly put together a tremendous squad, I wonder if he left for greener pastures (not a tough thing to find than living in Upland and coaching Taylor, hahaha, I kid) since he had a Division I background. There website doesn't mention anything about him stepping down from the program, that makes me wonder if he left in less than admirable circumstances... Hmmmmm....
Indiana Wesleyan University Football... Still undefeated since 1920.

Yeah, they never said anything about it except for in the article that he resigned. I don't know why he left, when he left, or anything. I thought he was gonna be around this year and see what he could get going. Foresterpride, I too hope Taylor can get something going. Unfortunately, I've been hoping they could get something going for the past 7 years or so. This new coach was hired in spring 2006, so yeah, he was new. He very well could have taken on a job somewhere else. We'll see what happens. I'm kinda shocked, my guess is a lot of people are surprised.

Taylor football is about tradition. How does beating Anderson fit into that story?

Korfmacher had been a part of the TU football program for 23 years when Bell came in and cleaned house. Moves like that didn't sit well with the Taylor community.

Coach Korfmacher back into Taylor football is a great thing for Taylor. He is a solid Christian man, a Taylor grad, former football player, and one who understands what Taylor is all about. He was an assistant when Taylor had their really good teams that went to the NAIA playoffs in the mid 90's.
I would not expect too much this year since Bell left the program bare, but with time, Coach Korfmacher will be able to recruit the type of players that fit the University well. One thing will be different with Coach Korfmacher and that is he will seek to have his players represent the University well in all areas!

Any idea where Bell went? Did he get another job?

He was building a new house in Marion so I assume that is where he is currently.

It could be tough for him to find a job any time soon, he has not been successful at his last two stops.

That's true, but the Taylor job was tough, and he was only here for 2 seasons. And, honestly, he is a very smart defensive minded man. He knows his defense very well, and I saw a lot of improvement in just the short time he was here on defense. I wouldn't be surprised if someone hired him on as a defensive coordinator or something like that. Maybe he'll find a job around here and coach at one of the local high schools or something. I wish him the best as he continues on.

I dont think that he would be an assistant at a high school. He is a very prideful man and I dont think he would do that. I do agree with you that defense is what he is best at and did a pretty good job with the defense at Taylor. For the last few years they have been ok on defense but when your offense is only getting a handful of first downs in a game it can make it tough no matter how good the defense is. Taylor football is a tough job and Coach Korfmacher definetly has some tough days ahead of him.
