I hope Alvarez pans out, but the rest of the draft interests me, too, as this is the first draft for the new regime in Pittsburgh.

Alvarez looks to be the right pick for Pittsburgh as they need guys that can contribute in a few years, not 4-5... They didn't cheap out like they have in the past. Bullington anyone?

I am actually ok with the Tigers pick. They need to start getting some young talent to come out of the pen, and I think they addressed it pretty well with Ryan Perry from Arizona. He is a strong kid who will be able to help the Tigers out in the long run. He is said to be like a slightly stronger Brandon Morrow ... I'm ok with that.

Oh, man, Bullington. And then Moskos last year when Wieters was available, along with any number of other better players. Long sigh...

Is there a more meaningless draft in sports? 398 rounds, players that will switch organizations 3 times before they are 25, first rounders that won't make it, and lots of sad injury stories (especially pitchers)

I think it's the most unpredictable draft, but certainly not meaningless.
All of the guys in the majors right now had to get there somehow.
