How is the POY, 1st, 2nd, 3rd team all-conference teams selected. Does a team nominate from within their own team? Does other teams nominate players other than their own, I am vey curious to learn how this is done. Does teams lobby for a specific player, and what is the break down form a 1st to 2nd to 3rd teams selection. I am sure someone knows the answer on how this works.

POY

The coaches submit a list of players from their roster for consideration at the coaches meeting. I believe they are also given time in the meeting to “make their arguments” for their players with stats, value to the team, etc. Each coach then takes the full list of submissions and ranks in order who they feel the top 15 is. The top player receives 15 pts, the next 14 pts…,the last one pt. All votes are compiled and the player with the highest total is the POY. The next four join him on the 1st team, the next five on the 2nd team, etc.
I think that’s all there is to it. Someone correct me if I’m wrong.
