I never thought I would see the day where BC would beat a team that was tied for first by 10, pull within only one game of second, and nobody is here talking about it.
Did all of the Pilot fans leave? Perhaps we should re-name the board

Actually, tamrik, no one is talking about much of anything on this board. Didn't we have a thread last year that broached that very issue? Are people not even interested in discussing WHAC and CL basketball anymore? I've been thinking of starting a thread which might get a lot of CL folks stirred up, just to see if anyone is even out there. And for you Bethel fans, it has nothing to do with 1999! I actually think there is a lot of parity in both conferences, but especially the CL. As far as I'm concerned, both conference tournaments are wide open - I can see one of 4 or 5 teams winning the CL, and at least 3 or 4 winning the WHAC. So . . . *tap tap tap* is this thing even on?

Actually, I do have one relatively benign question - Why has Marion played only 14 games this season, and everyone else in the CL has played 21 or 22. That seems really weird.

I think the short answer is that several of us that kept this board lively have gone on to other things...Feller, HIRG, and I, and several others just aren't checking here often anymore. It happens...I graduated from Huntington 13 years ago, and my last year working there was 9 years ago. Since I have not lived in Indiana for 6 years, the MCC (or CL) has not been on my radar as much. I just talked to Feller on Facebook a week ago, and he said the same thing. Just a natural cycle. I don't think current students of HU even come here. Message boards are not relevant to most people these days. It's the world of Twitter...
Usually when I do come here, it is to find the scores of games, so I wish those things were posted more timely...

I agree that some would naturally move on with life, but the interest level seems to be lower at the games as well. The student section at my school seems to be getting smaller every year, and last year when I visited BC it seemed to be about half of what it used to be.

Speaking of Feller - I haven't seen much sign of him at all since Hurricane Sandy. Did he and his wife get through that all right?

The student section at my school seems to be getting smaller every year, and last year when I visited BC it seemed to be about half of what it used to be. Myself and some other guys have traveled to a few places over the years. The only place we have been that actually had a student section standing up was IWU. They didn't do a lot of cheering, but were visible. Bethel may have had one as well, but was pretty much the same as IWU. Now, at USF we don't have a ton of people who stand up and cheer for the games, but those of us who do get really into it. There is a group of about 6 or so of us that have been traveling to games as much as we can over the past few years. We plan to be at Taylor on Wednesday night since the game got postponed to then and most of us have Tuesday night class. I'm not really sure that USF has ever had an actual cheerblock, but we like to think we create a bit of an advantage for the squad and even if we don't, we definitely enjoy ourselves. A few years ago at HU a guy came up to us and told us he really enjoyed watching us throughout the game. Most of the time it's a parent complaining we were disrespectful. Trust me, we have learned over the years what we are allowed to say and what we aren't, our AD does a good job policing us. Anyway, see ya in Upland on Tuesday. Go Cougs!

This reminds me of a couple of things that happened at the CU/USF national championship game back in 2011. Apparently the Krispy Kreme folks gave away a box of doughnuts to a school's fan base if one of them could make a shot (3 point? free throw? not sure). The USF representative made their shot, and the CU one missed theirs (about the only thing that USF beat us at that night! LOL!), and later on in the game when Caleb Simons was shooting two free throws, the USF student group chanted "We got doughnuts!" multiple times. Caleb missed the first free throw, but made the second. Then, later in the game, a bunch of the USF student section started chanting, "I'm blind. I'm deaf. I wanna be a ref!" multiple times. It didn't go over very well, and a lot of folks (including most of the CU section, ironically!) started booing! It was at that moment that Jason Knapp, the CBS play by play guy, mentioned the names of the officials and congratulated them for getting to the championship game. It was really quite hilarious!

Unortunately I wasn't at that National Title game because I was in Florida for baseball (poor me). I was at the game the year before when they beat Walsh because I didn't play baseball my freshmen year. Definitely a great experience going to Branson. Should be a lot of CL/WHAC representatives this year.

I live in Arkansas, so I hardly get on. I will every once in a while get on, but not to post all the time like I once did.. Oh well, we all get older and move on with life, it happens...

Yeah, I get that. And that's perfectly fine. I mean, it's not like there's some sort of law that we all need to get on here X times per week. But I do know a lot of folks who keep in touch with CU basketball - alumni who, in some cases have moved hundreds of miles away. I post updates on my Facebook page about CU basketball, and I know of a number of folks who follow our webcasts. I guess my bottom line is simply that I miss the banter that once use to go on here. It used to be that on a CL Tuesday night, it was hard to keep up with all the posts about all the games. Now, we're lucky to get a handful of posts after a night of games. So no "pressure" or anything - but I'd just love to see some, or all, of you come back on here and discuss the games, at least once in a while. That's all.

It could be due to a lack of people even knowing about the site. Obviously that has nothing to do with the regulars posting more, but if more people knew the site existed it could definitely increase the banter.
