Some interesting tidbits:
-No Texas team is in the tourney for the first time since 1977
-Four of ESPN's Top 12 Recruiting Classes from 2012 did not advance to NCAAs: Kentucky (2), Texas (4), Baylor (5), Providence (6)
-11 of ESPN's Top 25 recruiting classes from 2012 did not make the NCAA Tournament.
-If you picked the entire bracket using just Recruiting Class Rankings, the Final Four is Memphis, Notre Dame, Kansas and Indiana.
-A-10 gets five teams into NCAA field. ACC gets four teams. UVa had 3X more Top 50 wins than La Salle.
-La Salle, MTSU and St. Mary's have four Top 50 wins, combined. UVa has six, by itself. Tennessee has three. Maryland has three. UK has four.

Once again, the Big Ten has 4 teams in the Sweet Sixteen, with a chance at 6. Pretty overrated according to Charles Barkley. (Indiana, Ohio State, Michigan, Michigan St, Illinois, Minnesota)
The Big East has 3 in. (Louisville, Marquette, Syracuse) The ACC can get 3 in. (Duke, Miami, North Carolina) The Missouri Valley has 1 in and can get 2 in. (Creighton, Wichita St) The SEC can get 2 in. (Florida, Ole Miss) With 5 teams in the second round, the A-10 can only get 1 team in. (La Salle) No other conference can get multiple teams in.
(This was done before the conclusion of the Kansas/North Carolina game)

at the half, looks like Minnesota is going to concede their spot to the SEC...I do believe Illini could take out Miami, if they play one of their better games.

I admit the Illini could win but Miami wouls also have to tank. but I never mind seeing the Canes lose in any sport (sorry Gabe)

I have watched a few minutes...not too impressed...the ACC is really weak this year...and as you probably saw, my prediction was pretty stinking close...Miami got a little help from the refs near the end to clinch the victory...that out of bounds call was just mind-numbingly bad...it was obvious to everyone except the refs...

Rub, you sound like a Bethel fan, complaining about the refs.

Rub, you sound like a Bethel fan, complaining about the refs. Maybe - but rub only mentioned a "little help" - he didn't imply that the entire game turned on that one call. You know, like some people do, sometimes. And, ach, don't go all medieval on me for this one little running joke, please!

I mentioned one call that really did have a significant impact...like any game, playing better throughout and not making mistakes previously could have changed the outcome too...but at that moment, possession for that one play really did change the advantage significantly, and it wasn't even close. It was obvious watching it in real time and easily proven if they could have checked the monitor. For all the things they can check on the monitor, it makes no sense that they blew that call so bad.

I guess I'm kind of purist. I really don't like instant reply - these games are played by humans who make mistakes, coached by coaches who make mistakes, cheered on by fans who are often clueless about what should happen or what happened. Why should the games not be officiated by humans? Mistakes happen over the full 40 minutes (in the case of basketball) by all parties - players, coaches, and officials. So why do we point out 1 or 2 moments when we don't agree with an official's call? Sure, instant replay can help in certain situations, but how do you decide which situations are reviewable and which are not. It's quite arbitrary really. I really don't know how you realistically decide that situations A and B are reviewable, but situations X and Y are not. I agree that the officials blew this call - but the Illini had many, many more chances to make plays, so that one blown call by the officials should not have been a factor.

Miami is out...Thought IU would make it to the final four...what a really disapointing season...such a failure. If any of these guys go pro, good luck to them, none of them are ready.

AWESOME comeback by the Wolverines - 87-85 in OT over Kansas after trailing by 14 late in the second half. Burke was unbelievable! UM in the Elite Eight!! Now bring on the winner of UF/FGCU! Either way, the battle for the Final Four will be intense! Go Blue!

A little Crean karma for the Hoosiers - and how about McGary lighting up the best interior defense in the country! How did Zeller do against Syracuse?
Lets go Sparty and get three BIG teams to the final 4!
