Jordan Robbins, 5’9 senior guard from Leo High School (IN), has made a commitment to continue her basketball and academic careers for the 2008-2009 season at Bethel College in Mishawaka, IN.
Jordan averaged 13.9 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 2.7 assists a game for Coach Carrie Shappell. The “Lady Lions” of Leo had a record of 17-6 this season. Leo HS won their Sectional and were the Allen County Conference Champions. Jordan shot 41.0% from the floor; 41.4% from the three-point line; and 88.5% from the free-throw line. Jordan was 1st in scoring and 1st in steals during her last three seasons. She also played in the Nancy Rehm All-Star Game vs. the Ohio All-Stars. Jordan was the leading scorer for Indiana with 23 points (Indiana featured 4 NCAA Division I players).
“Jordan had a great senior year: winning Conference; winning Sectionals; and finishing it off by playing great in the All-Star game by scoring 23 points,” states Bethel College Head Coach Jody Martinez. “What is more impressive about Jordan is her success off the court – church involvement and performance in the classroom. She excels in everything she does and I have confidence that she will do great at Bethel College. Jordan is a very good set shooter. We are blessed to have Jordan join the Lady Pilots family at Bethel College.”
“I’m really excited about coming to Bethel College next fall,” states Jordan. “There is no doubt in my mind that I will be spiritually, academically, and athletically challenged over the next four years. I can’t wait to see how God grows me and uses me through the Bethel College community, and I’m looking forward to helping the Lady Pilots continue in their success.”
“Jordan Robbins is a hard-working student-athlete who is driven in both the classroom and athletics,” quotes Head Coach from Leo HS, Carrie Shappell. “She is the best 3-point shooter that I have ever seen and one of the best basketball players that I have ever coached. Jordan’s transition into college life will be a smooth one due to her maturity both on and off the court. She will bring great things to the Bethel College Women’s Basketball Program, as she did for the Lady Lions for the past four years.”
Jordan Robbins is a member of the National Honor Society and serves on the Executive Committee. She was part of the NCAA “Stay in Bounds” program and represented the state of Indiana at the NSLC – National Student Leadership Conference. She is active with her church (youth group) and is involved with Concert Choir. Her parents are: Dr. James and Jeana Robbins. Her siblings are: Jessica, Janiece, and Jacob. Jordan was also awarded a Trustee Scholarship for her academic performance.
