HIRG, you should be good for some thoughts after Torres' hit on Hossa last night.
How many games should he get?

But honestly I think he'll get 5 games. You can't make an example out of Shaw and then not give Torres (a repeat offender) who did all the things you're not supposed to do (leave your feet, target the head) a longer suspension. The NHL has been adamant about player safety and cracking down on hits to the head. They suspended Torres for 2 games for a similar hit in the regular season against the Stars. He should get 5, maybe more.

If you're not watching the Pittsburgh/Philadelphia game, you're missing out. It's like they've decided to play with Jr. B goalies. Unreal.

Didn't tune in until is was already 9-3. What's going on with that series?!?! Goals are through the roof! It's helping me in my ESPN Playoff Hockey Challenge were earlier in the day I was in the 99.9 percentile which was good enough for 82nd in the world! I know no one else cares, but it was cool to see my name on the top 100 leader board for at least a day.

That is pretty impressive.
I'm in a charity pool with some good prizes up for grabs. It was a live draft format, and we have the 10th pick, so everyone was taking Penguins, Canucks and Bruins, so we loaded up on Predators and Rangers. Since the Leafs never made it (again), I have two new teams to cheer for.
As for Torres, I bet he gets closer to 10 games, based mainly on the fact that he's a repeat offender. 10 years ago, that hit would have been a 2 min minor for charging, at worse, but the culture around hockey is changing and with what we've learned about concussions stuff like that won't fly anymore.

This is what pisses me off the most... he's not even remorseful about it: After the game Torres said: "First off, I hope he's all right. As far as the hit goes, I just felt like it was a hockey play, just trying to finish my hit out there."A hockey play?!?!?!! BS! He was trying to take Hossa out and he accomplished his purpose. I wholeheartedly agree with Toews when he says this: "It was the same thing when [Torres] was with Vancouver last year," Toews said. "He probably thought that was a hockey play, too.
"There is no remorse at all with a guy like that. When ... [you] have a guy carried out on a stretcher and he probably doesn't feel bad about it at all, that's not hockey to me."espn.go.com/chicago/nhl/story/_/id/7828639/phoenix-coyotes-raffi-torres-faces-nhl-hearing-hit-chicago-blackhawks-marian-hossaI hope the bum does get 10 games, but since this is the way Shanahan goes about stuff...

The message has been sent to Torres. 25 Games!
The biggest factor here is obviously based on the fact that this is his 6th suspension, because this wasn't any dirtier than Keith's elbow on Sedin, but Keith was a first time offender (and star player).
Let's hope Torres changes his game the same way Matt Cooke did after his long suspension.

I agree that Keith's elbow was dirty, maybe not as dirty because there wasn't near as much force behind it, but dirty nonetheless. Hopefully the message is received. He can't keep acting like this.

The Coyotes continue to show how dirty of a team they are going after the Kings tonight. Doan with a nasty boarding hit, Mike Smith slashing Brown, and then another terrible hit on Brown into the boards. I was indifferent to them coming into the playoffs, but now I'm enjoying watching LA beat the crap out of them where it counts... on the scoreboard. scores.espn.go.com/nhl/recap?gameId=400264051

Glad to see the Kings close out that series last night! LA is a fun team to watch and have been on fire during this playoffs. It's incredible that they're 8-0 on the road in their 3 series. I'll be intrigued to see if they can finish off either the Rangers or the Devils in the Finals.

I hope LA does win, because NYR and NJ are boring.
It would also be interesting in LA wins because Philadelphia dumped Carter and Richards and they didn't think they could win the Cup with them. Now, not even 1 year later LA is 4 wins away with them. Maybe it wasn't their partying ways that was Philly's down fall. *cough* goaltending *cough*
