What would his contract in the second division of Turkey look like? Wouldn't he make more money in the States?

He's on loan with the team in Turkey...meaning he's still getting his Benfica (portugal) money, it's just a matter of how the two teams (Benfica/Rizespor) have decided to fulfill his contract.
I don't know how much he does make, but I'm sure he's making around $1M per year right now?

Feller, I'm far from an expert on soccer so forgive my ignorance. Why do teams loan other players out? I read that Benfica has now loaned Adu out to four different teams. Why don't they let him play for the team that actually owns him? Is it something like a major league player getting sent down to a minor league team?

Loans happen for any number of reason:
1) Youngsters need first team action 2) Someone is buried behind better players 3) New Manager doesn't want players and can't find anybody to buy them, so the next financially motivating move is to limit your overhead by sharing/renting out a player. 4) Etc.
Right now, my European Club Newcastle United are loaning a few players, both of whom are high caliber. Newcastle has loaned them both with considerations in place in the event that Newcastle want to buy the player at end of their loan.
In Freddy Adu's case, I'm of the opinion that he cost Benfica so much in transfer/wage fees that if he isn't good enough (which he isn't right now) to break into their first team than there is no reason to sit around pay him for not contributing when the lights go on. Freddy has had an epic collapse since moving to Europe...last season in Greece (Aris) he played well and I think this club in Turkey is going to be the next step in his progression. He left home to early......
