airing on ESPN; a 43-13 game at half time...Dawson has 5 of Wallace's 13 points, Jabari Parker has 9pts and 5 boards. Def not shocked that Simeon is winning they are a true top 15 team..but thought a Dawson led Wallace could atleast keep it close like Marrero did for Bowman over three quaters. This is a beatdown

Happy to see Wallace get smacked in the face. By an Illinois team? Looks like the Land of Lincoln is clearly superior here ;D

Why does Illinois get to call itself the Land of Lincoln?
He was born in Kentucky......raised in Indiana, moved to Illinois with his family when he was 20.
And while we are on it....the Wright Brothers were born/raised in Indiana also.....why does Ohio and North Carolina get all of their publicity? They moved to Ohio in their late/late teenage years.
Booooo

Haha... changing the subject because Illinois teams have been dominating Indiana teams in matchups this year. Perhaps Indiana should ask that some Indy teams be placed in these events because the Gary teams aren't hacking it. Big time games between the two states that I'm aware of this year...
Chicago Simeon 61 Bowman Academy (IN) 46
Chicago Mt. Carmel 63 Bowman Academy (IN) 60
Bowman still has Chicago DeLasalle and Illinois commit Mike Shaw still on the schedule on December 27th.
Chicago Simeon 85 Gary Lew Wallace 38
Chicago Whitney Young 53 Gary Lew Wallace 38

And Wallace still has Chicago Harlan, and Chicago Dunbar...and already played Carver (lost by 1). Last night during the game they were saying Wallace is playing a "elite" schedule. So I checked and they only play 5 teams from Indiana the whole season! I guess/see that they are trying to make a name for themselves but they are worlds away from being a team that can play teams like Whitney Young, Simeon, Detroit Country Day, and Southeastern in one year!..but in their defense the 3 Gary City Schools struggle to schedule games each year.

Harlan and Dunbar aren't all that great so they should have a great chance to win there. However, Carver isn't all that great either and they lost that one.
I've been extremely impressed with Simeon this year. They are usually one of the top programs in the state and always have great players (Derrick Rose, Nick Anderson, etc.) but they are a step above this year. The scary thing is their best players aren't seniors. Jabari Parker and Kendrick Nunn are just sophomores and Steve Taylor is a junior.

The Nunn kid can flat out shoot!...smooth lefty stroke, Im sure more then MAC schools will be calling his number over the next couple years.
...I read in a sub-blog of the Suntimes that some are saying this is the best Simeon team of all time, even better then the 30-2 (?) 2007 team lead by Rose, because of the depth and all-around talent.

Yes the depth of this team is incredible. Rose's team was a 1 man show with a bunch of low-level D1 talent that probably got more credit because of the team's success. This team has a 5* kid in Parker and a couple of really good players in Taylor and Nunn along with plenty of solid HS players than know their role on the team. Great, great team.

I know at least one Indiana college that has a residence hall named for the Wright brothers (well more specifically, their father, but only because they became famous...)

Chicago Simeon just continues to roll opponents including top-ranked out of state foes. They whooped Dayton (OH) Dunbar 53-39 the other day. Here's what Rivals.com had to say about it: Already ranked in the ten nationally, Robert Smith's Chicago (Ill.) Simeon team is proving that they may even be a bit underrated. The Simeon squad has size, speed, athleticism and they respond well to Smith's coaching. Of course, it doesn't hurt that their best player, sophomore wing Jabari Parker, is a hard working star with zero attitude and a great work ethic.
Skilled on the offensive end, the 6-foot-7 Parker is able to get his points without having to force anything. He handles the ball well, catches and shoots with range, gets on the offensive glass and is a good passer. He's still got some baby fat on his frame, but has gotten into significantly better shape since the summer and is quite a bit more athletic than generally given credit for.
He's currently a five-star prospect and rated #11 in the nation for the class of 2013, but after seeing him this year a case can be made that even at that lofty ranking he's a bit underrated. He was good for 20 points and six boards in Simeon's 53-39 spanking of an outstanding Dayton Dunbar squad.illinois.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=1177526Feller... this is one year I'd take Chicago Simeon against any Indiana HS team. This team is loaded and the scary thing is a lot of their top players are underclassmen.

In the state playoffs, Simeon beat Morgan Park 52-45. Jabari Parker guarded 5* Louisville recruit Wayne Blackshear and shut him down in the second half. Just 2 points for Blackshear after the break and 13 for the game. Parker is a true stud. He's a top 5 player in the 2013 class and everyone says it's Illinois and Duke for him right now. That's not a battle teams like Illinois win too often. Hopefully this time it's different.
