Most people are HIRG.
I'm of the opinion, that after years of speculation and near-misses in investigating Sepp Blatter and the corruption of FIFA....that USA/England should break away from FIFA and bring the rest of the civilized world with them to start a new organization.

I'm only a bit surprised. But Qatar has been hosted a lot of international events in the past couple years. And they are very affluent.
So I guess if you have to be in an Arab country, that's the one to be in.

Affluent?
Alcohol is Illegal (that should be interesting) Women have zero basic human rights Homosexuality is Illegal They don't recognize Israel as a state They have a booming Slave Trade
The list goes on and on......there is no reason to reward these people with the biggest event in sport. I am personally supporting Israel to put together a ridiculous team so they can play Qatar and destroy them by 10 goals. I would love to see a Sheik have to hand the WC Trophy to Israel.

Affluent - having an abundance of wealth, property, or other material goods; prosperous; rich.

Avg. Temperature during the games is 120 degrees. As a part of their proposal for the games, the country has acknowledged that they need to build multiple indoor facilities to accommodate the games. Given the great stability in the Middle East, I guess it's completely reasonable to assume that these buildings will be constructed without protest or complications. Great choice FIFA.

I know I'm a little late here, but I had to chime in.
This is just plain ridiculous. The population is not even as much as Philadelphia!!!!! There are 5 CITIES in the US that have more people than Qatar has!
I guess the thing that really attracted them was the quality of their soccer team. They are all the way up at #114!!! I'd say they have a pretty good chance of winning the whole thing. I mean, they will probably get a ton of people to the game considering their country has sooo many people, and it's not even fair when a team that is that good gets to play in their home country!
Thanks a lot FIFA, I don't have anything to look forward to in 2022 now!
