Due to test scores (long story short); East Allen County Schools will close Harding High school's doors next year in order to revamp the school into a college-prep magnet high school which will keep the school from being taken over by the State of Indiana. This plan was initially presented this past summer and will move forward as planned meaning; new staff, a new curriculum and staggered implementation of a college and career academy. Students will be allowed to choose whatever high school they want to attend in greater Ft. Wayne area next year by listing their top two choices.
For High School basketball this stinks, as Coach Al Gooden will be without a team to coach for the first time in 23 years. Over the past 10 years his Harding teams have won:
8-Sectionals in 2A & 3A 6-Regionals in 2A & 3A 5-Semi-States in 2A & 3A 1-State title in 2A

Notice all of his success comes from Class Basketball. The interesting thing about this statement, is that its made without knowing that Coach Gooden has spoken against Class basketball, even in the midst of his class basketball success.
