Ill try to update major "metropolitan" pre-season fab 5 type teams for the state; and list their college looks/choices.
2010-11 Boys Fab Five
The following boys basketball players are the top of the class in the Great Fort Wayne Area, as chosen by the News-Sentinel sports staff.
Antonio Wilson, North Side senior: Wilson is a product of recently closed Elmhurst High Schoo. Wilson has drawn recruiting interest from IPFW, Eastern Michigan, Indiana State and several junior colleges. A few academic issues have kept some bigger Division I colleges, including Butler and Notre Dame, from offering him a scholarship.
Bryson Scott, Northrop sophomore: Bryson averaged 18.0 points, 4.8 rebounds and 2.5 assists last season, and lead his school to the most wins its had in almost 20 years. Illinois, IU, Michigan St., Ohio St, and Xavier have all shown interest, with Purdue having offered already. Should lead a solid team that includes his twin brother and Canterbury transfer Jason Jordan
Rapheal Davis, South Side junior : a 6-5 junior guard who can do it all, a big reason he is already committed to Purdue. Last season he averaged 20.6 points and 8.4 rebounds. Rated #21 shooting guard in the country by rivals.
V.J. Beachem, Harding sophomore: 6-5 Swingman, is rated # 35 in the 2013 class. Long list of interested suitors including, IU, Illinois, Florida, Xavier, 'Cuse, Ohio State, Notre Dame, and an offer from Purdue and recently visited Michigan
James Blackmon Jr., Bishop Luers *freshman : a highly regarded freshman guard who already is orally committed to play for Indiana. He's ranked among the nation's best in the Class of 2014, and ESPN had him as the #1 rated shooting guard, and #5 overall prospect in the 2014.
Solid Preseason all area team for the Fort Wayne area...Ill get to Indy next!
