How many players will BC take? Last spring I remember someone saying they may take 20. I just thought it was exaggeration but they're loading up early and I don't think it sounds like they're done either. Just curious

An article about Bethel recruit Cody Cochran:
ACAC finds Bluffton's Cochran hard to guard Four-year starter is expecting to improve his 14-ppg scoring this season
By Blake Sebring bsebring@news-sentinel.com
BLUFFTON - Three things you probably didn't know about Bluffton star Cody Cochran: He can bench- press almost 300 pounds, and he can also play the piano and sing. He taught himself to play the piano from watching youtube videos.
“My mom's side of the family (is) really musically inclined,” the senior said. “I have a lot of respect for people who can do that.”
He can play anything from Beethoven to the Gaither Family. He has sung at his church, but he's not a big fan of singing in public.
“People always ask me to sing, but it's just not in my personality,” he said. “I'll play the piano for whomever whenever, but singing is a different story.”
Maybe for his last game as a senior he'll sing the national anthem. Until then, he'll keep his performances on the court, where he's an all-around player who can score from almost anywhere.
“A lot of people look at us in the ACAC and think we can't play with other good teams, but Cody kind of helps us bust that myth because he's a 6-3 man on the wing,” coach Kevin Leising said. “He can drive it, and he has a lot of facets to his game.
“He doesn't have any weaknesses at the high school level. He's a nightmare matchup, because if you put a bigger guy on him, he'll go outside, and then if you put a smaller guy on him, he can go inside and play physical. I think a lot of teams don't know how to guard him.”
Cochran has been a four-year starter for the Tigers, who went 59-12 during that time. He averaged 10 points as a freshman, 13 as a sophomore and 14 last year. This season he'll probably average more before taking his skills to Bethel College next year. The Tigers lost double-digit scorers Jared Johnson and Brock Woodward to graduation.
“I know Coach Leising wants to play really fast,” Cochran said. “He wants to get it and go, and I think that will translate into more shots for everyone. I'm going to love playing that way, and hopefully they are good shots.
“I'm going to like the role where everyone is on me now. I have to create shots for everyone, get into the lane and dish it.”
Leising expects to face various kinds of zone defense, but Cochran is much stronger this year and may be too much for many high school defenders to handle.
“He's very physical and he looks like a man,” Leising said. “He's very mature physically.”
Cochran is also an excellent defensive player who loves guarding the opponents' top scorer. Cochran believes his defense can lead to creating offense. That also gives him a boost of confidence.
Besides playing basketball, Cochran was Bluffton's quarterback for two years before joining the tennis team the last two seasons. He's also an excellent baseball player.

do you have spencer krhin's stats from earlier this week? No. The Wabash and Peru papers require that you have a subscription to read their online news. Very draconian and outdated.

The same outfit owns the Huntington paper now, too, with the same policy. It stinks for freeloaders like me.

The same outfit owns the Huntington paper now, too, with the same policy. It stinks for freeloaders like me. Even the small town LaPorte Herald Argus has free online reading (albeit not on all of the articles in the paper). I really like the South Bend Tribune's website. They only leave articles online for free for 7 days but that's enough for me.

Watched the 1st half of the Snider/Bluffton game last night. Cody Cochran is a stud and BC will see his benefit from the beginning of his career. The Class 2A No. 4 Bluffton Tigers got the challenge they wanted and a little more in beating last year’s Class 4A state runner-up Snider Panthers 77-66 on Saturday. Cochran had 33 points on the Panthers. Saw Coach Lightfoot there and I am sure he was happy with what he saw.
