Lauren (Davenport) Johnson will be competing in the 800 meters at the 2010 USA Outdoor Track and Field Championships slated for June 23-27 at Drake stadium in Des Moines, Iowa. The former Forester ran a personal best of 2:03.95 in the 800 meters earlier this month to qualify for the USATF Championships. She is scheduled to run on Thursday, June 24, at 4:45 p.m.
While Johnson graduated from Huntington University in 2009 as one of the Foresters’ most decorated athletes, having earned All-America honors in three different sports, it was her success on the track that catapulted her into the spotlight. Johnson was the 2008 and 2009 MCC Champion in the 400 meters. She also brought home the 2009 MCC Championship in the 400 meter hurdles and established a new MCC and HU record in this event with a time of 1:03.03. She ran a 2:07.36 to finish fourth in the 800 meters at the 2009 NAIA National Outdoor Track meet to earn All-America honors and another top spot in the HU record books.
