The NAIA No. 8 ranked Bethel College men’s soccer team sealed their invitation to the NAIA National Championship with the 2-1 win over Indiana Wesleyan University in the championship game of the Mid-Central College Conference tournament on Saturday night in Mishawaka, Ind. Playing without MCC Offensive Player of the Year Romulo Nobrega, the Pilots knew that offensive would be a premium against long time conference rival Indiana Wesleyan University in a battle for the MCC Championship. In front of a massive crowed, Bethel found themselves down midway through the first half after Indiana Wesleyan junior, Austin Bock found the back of the net to put the Wildcats of IWU on the scoreboard at 28:25 mark of the first half. The Pilots didn't let the Wildcats stay on top for long as Bethel midfielder, Zach Ganzberg sent home his first goal of the night to tie the game at 1-1 in the game’s 42nd minute. Bethel and Indiana Wesleyan headed to the locker rooms at half with the game knotted at one goal a piece. Just five minutes into the second half, Ganzberg received a cross from Arron Patrick and headed the ball into the goal to give the Pilots the 2-1 lead. The Wildcats had no answer for Ganzberg's second goal, and the Pilots clinched back to back MCC titles. With the win the Pilots improve to 18-0-1 on the season and advance to the NAIA National Championship Opening Round next Saturday. Bethel awaits word on the possibility of hosting the opening round matchup next Saturday night at Morey Field in Mishawaka.
