Don't ever go and call out Indiana High School Basketball. It is the best ever and is way better than most MCC games. Sorry to say that is why high school games are attended by 2,000 to 3,000 people regularly and there was only about 1,200 at one of the biggest games of the year last night. Sorry MCC games just don't measure up!!!

IWU/Bethel had 2,017 people in the crowd. And I'm not sure what high school games you've been going to lately....but where are 2-3k people going to games anymore? I miss the days of 8,000 in the Wigwam.

What does attendance have to do with quality of the basketball? Of course high school basketball is going to draw better -- the kids are all local and many people show up just because they know a kid on the team, or they work with a father of a kid on the team, or they went to the high school and still live in the town. College basketball has a more difficult time attracting local fans because many have no draw or relationship with the team. That doesn't mean the quality of basketball is higher at the high school level though.

Indiana basketball died when they instituted class basketball. Now we have the Meijer-brand version of Indiana basketball. Or, that's what Feller tells me anyway.

I wasnt calling out Indiana High School basketball in general, just saying that these days high school talent doesn't seem to be what it has been or what I remembered. Maybe I just went through high school at a bad time when the majority of teams that I saw play would devastate many of the clubs that are playing right now. My senior year had 2 Division-One players, one playing in the MCC, one playing at Depauw, and another playing big time baseball down south. That being said, I was watching teams with Ryne, Kory, Kaiser, Weinhorst, Kyle Johnson, Troyer, the Eaton Brothers, and many other great players play on a regular basis. Those teams are not even comparably to the quality of competition being played right now. Thats the point I was trying to make.

The fans have spoken. Also, Jonbon...what in the world does playing college baseball have to do with how good local high school basketball teams are?

Feller, there is no way there was some 2,000 people at the game Tuesday. I don't know who does the counting, but I think they made some people up. The bleachers one end where not pulled out and the bleachers on the other end were pretty much empty. The IWU section was empty and the Bethel students didn't show up (The Wacko’s were weak and I don’t want to hear about 5 freshmen girls). The players have all commented on how quiet the gym was and that it didn't feel like a big game.
I agree attendance doesn’t have anything to do with the quality of basketball. Growing up in the area I knew how good Bethel basketball was, but not how good the MCC was as a whole. Even though Indiana high school basketball took a step back when it instituted class basketball it still is what kids grow up dreaming about. Players may not be at the same schools (Central, Concord, Wawasee) but there are still players in northern Indiana. Last year there were D1 players in northern Indiana and several players who are playing in the MCC this year.

Baseball doesn't, just mentioning that the five starters were all great athletes... sorry for the misconception of my words. I will be more specific next time

Feller, I think jonbon is saying that Brandon Tepe would have been more than capable of playing basketball in the MCC, but he choose to play baseball elsewhere. It is just like Randy Davis could have played soccer and Adam Christner could play 2 other sports besides basketball, but they all were capable of playing basketball in the MCC.

"Baseball doesn't, just mentioning that the five starters were all great athletes... " Good point, nothing says "athletic" to me like baseball.

I bet my dad can beat up your dad. Probably more athletic than me today....I'm sure. But I didn't make it to state finals in track by being unathletic.
