It's come to my attention that Joe Smith and JT Hooks will no longer be with the Bethel mens basketball program.

Understandable, but disappointing as they were both great kids. Is this just in terms of varsity, will they still play jv?

They decided to step away from the program all together....apparently.

Best wishes to both Joe and JT in whatever doors God opens next for them. I did not know them, but I saw during games that they were awesome encouragers and neat guys, so I know they will be missed because of team spirit.

This is pretty common, I bet we lose one or two this summer for people that aren't getting the minutes they would like. But I have not heard that for sure.

jt hooks and joe smith are not coming back....they were merely jv tho any way I agree. I would think that perhaps one or two more will also be out, with the new recruits coming in. Perhaps they chose to leave before they were cut from the squad. I don't mean that in a bad way - it's just that space would need to be made for Everett, Griffey, and Ward - among others?

JT and Joe were more then just JV players they were great guys to have around the locker room and great guys to have at practice. yes most of there minutes came from JV games. But BC is going to miss them next year for sure on the practice squad. They had done it for 2 years and they knew what was expected from them. Now with the new freshman coming in they are going to have to jump into that practice/scout team play because in all honesty and i am not trying to bash or put down anyone but right now I am not seeing any of the freshman getting any major playing time this next year. Jon Z is the only player that got minutes. And he only got around 8 a game. And I see KC and Joe W. taking taking his minutes. Most of these freshman have never had to be a practice player they have always been the best or one of the best players on their team. So this could hurt BC in the terms of practice. Will BC lose any games because of this no but it will hurt practice.

As a former practice player myself, I feel that (at least when I played) I could almost run other team's plays better than my own.
It should only hurt practice at the beginning of the year though, they'll learn how to practice at this level quick enough.

Sam Kleber will not be returning either. Wasn't he the best PG on the team?

Sam Kleber will not be returning either. Wasn't he the best PG on the team? No, you misheard. He would've been the best PG on YOUR team.

If he is that good, maybe HU can make something of him. Wouldn't be the 1st from BC.
