It's just a habit he has. It's a stupid habit, but Cubs fans like myself got over it last year because it's clear he's not going to change it. It is not how he hurt himself last year though.
As for last night... I didn't watch the game so I can't answer any of your questions. I did see that Soto aggravated his hand injury which isn't good news. Hopefully it will heal and he can be good to go by Wednesday. We need him in the lineup in the playoffs.

I guess Manuel realizes that Santana's all he's got... he's pitching today on three days' rest.

Well the Cubs have Dempster.....so they've got that going for them, I guess?

And Harden and Lilly who are all better than anything the Mets have outside of Santana. Oliver Perez and Zambrano are even as they showed the other night.

Once again, Santana is just what the doctor ordered... complete game shutout for him today. Mets 2 Marlins 0. I don't think he'll ever lose again!

The Cubbies are doing their best to help out the Metropolitans today... they're up on the Brewers 4-0 in the 4th!

I've been so caught up in college football that I just noticed that Ted Lilly has a no-hitter through 5 innings! This is his second straight sparkling start in Milwaukee after following up Big Z's no-hitter with a 7 inning 1-hitter of his own. This is one to keep an eye on! In his last 27 starts Lilly has been 15-5 with a 3.75 ERA. Not too shabby for your #4 guy!

Cubs win 7-3. Lilly had a no-hitter through 6 before giving it up in the 7th. Marmol came on to clean it up and did a fine job. He's looking good going into the postseason. Lou tries to see what Marquis will do coming out of the bullpen and the answer is terrible as he starts an atrocious 8th inning. Cotts does what he needed to do but Cedeno blows the pop-up before Wuertz gets them out of it. Cubs win! Cubs win! The Metropolitans live to play another day. The Cubs had the scrubs in again today and I doubt it'll be much different tomorrow. I'm not sure who will be pitching (Guzman or Marshall?) but the Brewers should win and because Santana's not on the mound the Mets should lose.

Best thing for the Cubs would be if they tied and had to play another game on Monday. Just sayin'...

You're right. Maybe both will lose tomorrow. Or both win. I don't care.

The Brewers are throwing CC Sabathia out there today while the Cubs are going with a carousel of pitchers, but Angel Guzman pitched two spotless innings and Chad Gaudin followed with another spotless frame and the Cubs have a 1-0 lead in the 4th.

Neal Cotts worked his way through the teeth of the Brewers lineup striking out two (including Fielder) and the Cubs are now headed to the top of the 5th with a 1-0 lead. This is a nice way for Lou to get several guys in the bullpen one last tune-up before the Divisional Series starts Wednesday night.

Kevin Hart is the next Cubs pitcher and he retires the side striking out two as well. This is a nice little run by the bullpen guys. I don't believe Guzman or Hart will be pitching in the postseason, but Gaudin and Cotts will, so their outings were encouraging.

Those bally-hooed Metropolitans got touched up for 2 runs in the 6th and trail 2-0 in the bottom of the 6th inning. Lucky for them the Cubs bullpen has given them a fighting chance against the Brewers thus far.

Kevin Hart maneuvered through his second clean frame and it heads to the 7th... 1-0 Cubs.
