we could also come back and talk about the non-counter/counter system that the NAIA has in place and that with players with high GPA's (this is relative to how hard each school/major is) do not count in these scholarships.

Yeah GoIrish, but I didn't feel like getting into that discussion again this morning. I'm just not up for it on a Saturday morning.

Good point. I know some of HU's current freshmen are very good students, so if they keep it up, their money will not count toward the limit. But, you have to be careful with that, because if someone slips a bit then their money does start to count, and that can put your program over the limit if you were counting on those guys keeping their GPA at 3.5 or higher. Don't want to gamble too much on that, I guess.

It should be a real fun day there for the MCC. I am wishing all four MCC teams the best of luck today!

....and it is a beautiful morning here in Fort Walton Beach, minus all the spring breakers crowding the roadways.

I just heard Coach Patterson say on the Marion radio station that he has signed Alex Daniel. He is a transfer who played for Muncie Central two years ago and is a pretty good player. He will look good playing alongside Daniel Cox and Kring. Originally he had signed with Saginaw Valley, a division II team. I think it is a good start to their recruiting.

Does Taylor recruit high school kids anymore? It seems like they get a lot of transfers.

Last year they recruited two transfers, Cox and Bohnhoff. Bohnhoff is no longer with them, so they will have two next year on the roster, Cox and Daniel.
Parsons and Bell were really not recruited as they contacted Taylor about wanting to transfer. In the case of Parsons, his father had just become a Pastor in Muncie having been in Pennsylvania and so the son wanted to play near his family.

Saginaw Valley is one of the bottom feeders in the GLIAC in the DII conference that I work in. While it is a DII conference, Saginaw likely would not be able to compete real well in the MCC. I don't know anything about this Alex Daniel though.

Alex Daniel, a 6-2 guard, was a multi-sport athlete at Muncie Central High School. He was part of a 27-2 team on the hardwood during his senior season that was state runner-up in Class 4A. In addition, he was a Class 4A All-State selection in 2004 as a quarterback. Daniel is the ninth player in Muncie Central history to score 1,000 career points at the varsity level and averaged 13.2 points per game as a senior. Daniel holds the school record for most games played in a career at Muncie Central, who has won eight state titles and produced the likes of Bonzi Wells. He also received the honor of being a Top 15 Senior by the Indiana Basketball Coaches Association

All you guys who are friends of coaches in the MCC........here is someone to recruit who can really play. Mitchell Meyer at New Albany is a 6'6" forward who is leaning toward Hanover or Wabash and wants to play tennis, basketball, and baseball as he is a very good pitcher. He averages about 14 points on one of the top teams in the state.
As to Daniel playing two sports....... it will not happen as they overlap too much in college and neither the football coach nor the basketball coach at the small college level would let a player go two way in those sports. I am sure it would not happen at Taylor as Coach Patterson would never allow it and the football coach has too much off season work for the team to do to try and change the losing program!

Why doesn't Taylor recruit Mitchell Meyer?
